I love Texas Toast and this is a recipe to make it at home. Known for its hearty thickness, Texas Toast is often served with ribs and other grilled meats and barbecue sauce. You can spread softened butter on both sides of the bread instead of using the cooking spray. If you don't have seasoned salt on hand, you can use garlic salt instead. You can also add cheese. Ingredients

cooking spray
8 slices white bread, about 1 inch thick
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt

Steps:

Spray grill rack with cooking spray.
Heat coals or gas grill.
Spray both sides of bread slices with cooking spray.
Sprinkle with seasoned salt.
Grill bread uncovered 4 inches from medium heat 4 to 6 minutes, turning once, until golden brown.

Cheesy Garlic Texas Toast - Buttery Texas Toast with three-cheese topping. So easy, takes 15 mins and SO much better than store-bought!

Ingredients

1 loaf French bread
3-4 cloves garlic, pureed
4 tablespoons melted salted butter
1 teaspoon chopped parsley leaves
1 cup shredded 3-cheese blend, mozzarella, Monterey Jack, and cheddar

Steps:

Preheat the oven to 400°F (207°C).
Slice the French bread into 1-inch thick pieces. Lay them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Combine the garlic, butter and parsley leaves in a small bowl. Stir to combine well. Brush the butter mixture on the bread.
Top the bread with the 3-cheese blend. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes in the middle rack of the oven. Serve warm.

Ingredients

4 -6 slices Texas toast thick bread
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic, minced (more if you wish)
1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, Finely Shredded
1/4 cup monterey jack cheese, Finely Shredded
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
2 tablespoons fresh herbs (I use parsley, basil and a pinch of thyme)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, finely grated (optional)

Steps:

Preheat broiler.
Mix olive oil and garlic in a small bowl and brush the top of each piece of Texas Toast.
Mix remaining ingredients in a small bowl.
Broil olive oil coated toast until lightly toasted.
Spread thinly with the cheese mixture and place under broiler until cheese is melted.
Sprinkle with very finely grated parmsan as soon as it is out of the oven (optional).
Serve immediately.
