Steps:
- Cut an empty plastic soda bottle in half.
- Heat water to dissolve the sugar. Let cool and pour into bottom half.
- Add yeast.
- Place the top part of the bottle upside down into the other half of the bottle, forming a funnel; tape pieces together with black tape (the mosquitos are attracted to dark colors).
- Leave the funnel top uncovered; place container outside and away from your normal gathering areas.
- Mosquitoes are drawn to the carbon dioxide created by the yeast and dark color. Change the mixture every two weeks.

MOSQUITO TRAPS-HOMEMADE
A friend of mine posted this on her facebook page and I thought I'd give it a try. It's easy to make, does not use harsh or poisonous chemicals, recycle your plastic bottles and kill mosquitoes all in one! That's a win win in my book! I have no pics as I haven't tried this yet. But will be making them shortly. Just wanted to share this with all of you so you can start conquering your mosquitoes!!

Steps:
- Cut plastic bottle in half.
- Microwave or heat water on stove so it's hot - not boiling. Mix brown sugar with the hot water and let cool. When cool, pour it in the bottom half of the plastic bottle.
- Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.
- Place the funnel part of the plastic bottle upside down into the bottom half of the plastic bottle. Tape them together with BLACK electrical tape. Wraping black tape will help attract more mosquitoes as they are attracted to dark colors.
- Leave the top of the plastic bottle uncovered and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering areas.

- Pour 1-1 1/3 cups of hot water into the lower half of the bottle. Pour the water slowly; since it is hot, you do not want to splash any water because it could burn you.
- Pour 1/4 cup of brown sugar into the lower half of the bottle. Carefully pour the brown sugar from the measuring cup into the lower half of the bottle.
- Allow the mixture to cool. Set the bottle aside for however long it takes the hot water to cool. Twenty minutes should be long enough.
- Add 1 gram of yeast to the plastic bottle. You don’t have to stir the mixture together. The yeast will consume the sugar and produce carbon dioxide, which attracts the mosquitoes.
- Hold the top half of the bottle upside down. The lid of the bottle will be facing downwards at this point. While you are holding the top half of the bottle upside down, grab the bottom half with your other hand.
- Place the top half upside down inside the bottom part of the bottle. Push the top inside gently until the cut edges align. Ensure the top of the bottle is above the water line.
- Secure the edges with tape. Use tape to keep the edges aligned. A few pieces of tape placed around the bottle will suffice to keep the edges in place. Advertisement.

- Shopping List. For our trap we will need: Plastic bottle (2 liters one is good) 4 spoons of white sugar. 10gr (0.70oz) Brewer's yeast (freeze-dried one or fresh)
- Prepare Your Bottle. The first thing to do is cutting your bottle at the right height. You have to cut 2-3 cm (about 1 inches) over the point where the bottle becomes thinner (the grip).
- Mixture. Now, put 200ml (6.75 oz) of tap water in a pot and boil it for 10 minutes. This will eliminate the possible presence of chlorine. Don't boil more thank 10 minutes, or too much water will evaporate.
- Prepare for Hanging. This step is optional, but I highly recommend it. You can finish now your trap by wrapping the bottle with black cardboard to add a sun protection (not from the heat but from UV).
- Ready for the Hunt! Now make a knot in the other hole of the can and hang your trap outside! In your garden or in your balcony, the best place is a dark and humid one, not exposed to direct sunlight.

- Amish Flying Insect Trap. The first trap we decided to try was the Amish Flying Insect Trap. We found a few different variations online, but they all contained the same ingredients, just the container, and location to place them changed.
- Brown Sugar and Yeast Bottle Trap. The next trap that was tested was the Brown Sugar & Yeast Bottle Trap. This trap consisted of a two-liter bottle with the top 1/3rd cut and inverted back into the bottle.
- Vinegar and Baking Soda Bottle Trap. The next trap was the Vinegar and Baking Soda Bottle Trap. This trap is made the same way as the Brown Sugar & Yeast Bottle Trap, by cutting the top off a 2-liter bottle and inverting it into the bottom to create a funnel.
- Dish Soap & Light Trap. This trap has a different design than the first three. This trap uses a container filled with water and dish soap, with a light to attract the mosquitoes.
- Vinegar & Dish Soap Bottle Trap. The next trap we tried was another bottle trap. The Vinegar & Dish Soap Bottle Trap uses the same design as the Vinegar and Baking Soda and the Brown Sugar & Yeast traps.
- Fan Trap. The Fan Trap is a much different design than the other traps listed. This trap uses a fan and mosquito netting to catch mosquitos. The fan sucks up the mosquito and blows them into a piece of mosquito netting.
