"FUNERAL SALAD"
Our church has dinners for this, that and funerals. While my Mother was still alive, the church would always call her when they needed salads (etc.) I found this recipe and after that, that's all they wanted. There really wasn't a name for it (other than "make that salad"), so the next call was for a funeral, there came the name, "funeral salad". When my Mother went to heaven, and we where having the dinner, I made this salad, cause know one else would. It was the last laugh for my Mom, cause she said no one would make it for Her.

Steps:
- drain oranges and toss juice. drain pineapple and save juice. thaw cool whip.
- In bowl, put pineapple juice, jello and pudding- mix. Then add fruit and fold. Add cool whip, mix, then fold in mini marshmallows.
- Put in serving bowl and chill, about 2 to 3 hours
FUNERAL DRESSING
Our grandmother passed away earlier this year 2022 and the Altar Rosary Society has put together a beautiful dinner following her burial. One of the things that stood out to me was the dressing on the salad. It was light and full of flavor. I thanked the ladies for the wonderful meal they prepared and asked for the recipe. It didn't have a name so I call it Funeral Dressing.

Steps:
- Add all ingredients to a pint mason jar or shaker and blend until opaque. Dress salad and serve immediately.
- That's it, simple and light dressing. Refrigerate any leftovers.
- You will make this dressing time and time again.
MOM'S FUNERAL SALAD
My Mom makes the best buttermilk jell-o salad and everytime there is a funeral at our church they call her to make the jell-o for the repast!!!! We've started calling this 'funeral salad', but we make it at home all the time as well!! As for the fruit in the recipe, Zaar wouldn't let me say smashed but that's what we do with the mandarin oranges, raspberries, strawberries, etc. We usually dice the pears, peaches and more firm fruits, Hope you'll get the drift here.

Steps:
- In a saucepan bring the pineapple, juice and Jell-O to a boil, set aside and cool well. Add the buttermilk, Cool Whip and fruit and pour into a 13x9 glass baking dish. If desired you can top with additional Cool Whip, we usually do.
- Suggestions:.
- Lime with pineapple or chopped pears.
- Apricot with smashed canned apricots.
- Peach with peaches.
- Orance with mandarin oranges.
- Raspberry with frozen raspberries.
- Strawberry with frozen strawberries.
