The Best Homemade Ranch Salad Dressing image

Perfectly tangy, creamy homemade ranch dressing tastes better than anything you could buy in a store.

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup buttermilk or regular milk
3/4 - 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried chives
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/8 teaspoon finely cracked pepper
freshly squeezed lemon juice to taste (approximately 1-3 teaspoons, adjust to taste)

Steps:

  • Whisk together the mayo, sour cream and milk until smooth. Add the spices and whisk until combined. Add the lemon and whisk again. Pour into a jar and chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. This dressing will keep nicely in the refrigerator for up to a week. Enjoy!

1/2 cup good-quality mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup buttermilk
3 tablespoons fresh minced parsley (OR 1 tablespoon dried parsley)
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh minced dill (OR 1/2 teaspoon dried dill)
1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth. Stir in parsley, dill, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Blend well and adjust seasonings, to taste.
  • Cover and refrigerate for ideally 8 hours (4 hours at a minimum) or overnight. If the consistency is too thick after chilling, thin out the ranch dressing with a splash of additional buttermilk.

  • In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Whisk until smooth. Cover and refrigerate until serving.

Try it and it may become yours too. I got the basic recipe from one of the waitresses but, she left out the secret. After tinkering with it a while I hit on the best homemade dressing I ever tasted.

1 (32 ounce) jar real mayonnaise
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 1/2 teaspoons white vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
2 (1 1/4 ounce) packages hidden valley ranch dressing mix
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
1 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Beat with an electric mixer on low speed, the mayonnaise, buttermilk, sour cream, vinegar, and lemon juice until smotth, about 2 minutes.
  • Add the dressing mix and remaining ingredients.
  • Beat on low speed until combined.
  • Pour into 2 sterilized quart jars. Seal.
  • Refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving.
