MICROWAVE "FRIED" RICE RECIPE BY TASTY

Here's what you need: rice, water, soy sauce, sesame oil, bacon, frozen pea and carrot, eggs, salt, fresh scallion

Number Of Ingredients 9

½ cup rice
1 cup water
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 strips bacon, chopped
½ cup frozen pea and carrot
2 eggs
salt, to taste
1 tablespoon fresh scallion, to garnish

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the rice, water, soy sauce, sesame oil, and bacon. Stir, then microwave, covered, for about 6-8 minutes until the rice is fully cooked.
  • Mix the frozen peas and carrots into the rice.
  • In a microwaveable mug, beat the eggs with the salt.
  • Microwave the eggs and the rice again for about 1-2 minutes, until the eggs are fully cooked.
  • Break up the egg into small bits, then mix it in with the rice.
  • Garnish with scallions, then serve!
  • Enjoy!

2 cups long grain rice
3 1/2 cups water or stock
1 1/2 teaspoons butter or oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a large glass measuring or any microwave safe bowl. Note: the rice expands during cooking, so be sure to choose a container that is large enough. Microwave on high, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Microwave on medium-low, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Do not stir the rice at any time during the cooking process. Season with salt and fluff with a fork just before serving.

FRIED RICE (NOT!) Thats what my kids call this!! I got this recipe from my friend Bev, and it is a quick and easy side dish, that can be padded out with a few more veggies. I would suggest that you dont "muck around" with this too much the first time you make it, as I have tried to be too clever and it hasnt worked out as well!!! having said that, I have to say I usually add garlic and ginger, and I am sure you have a favorite ingredient you would like to add :)

1 cup rice (I use long grain, Jasmine or Basmati)
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup chopped vegetables (fresh or frozen)
1 medium chopped onion
2 slices bacon, chopped
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon tomato sauce (ketchup)
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Steps:

  • put all ingredients into a microwave safe container. Stir and Cover.
  • Microwave on high for twenty minutes.
  • Leave for about 5 minutes.
  • Stir, and serve.

1 tablespoon canola oil
1/2 cup sliced green onions
1 medium carrot, shredded
1 garlic clove, minced
2 cups water
1 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 tablespoon beef or chicken bouillon granules
3/4 cup frozen peas, thawed
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1-1/4 cups chopped cooked ham, pork or shrimp, optional
2 eggs

Steps:

  • In a 2-qt. microwave-safe dish, combine the oil, onions, carrot and garlic. Cover and microwave on high for 2-3 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender. , Stir in water, rice and bouillon. Cover and cook on high for 9-12 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed, stirring once. Stir in peas, soy sauce and ham if desired. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes., Meanwhile, in a small microwave-safe bowl, beat the eggs. Cover and heat on high for 1 to 1-1/2 minutes or until firm. Cut into small pieces; stir into rice mixture. Serve immediately.
