MEXICAN NACHO PIZZA

Mexican Nacho Pizza image

I love nacho's and I live in a small town in Michigan that is famous for its Mexican pizza's they serve there at a restaurant called "Nachos". I make my own..hubby insists, in fact...I just made this one today and decided to share with my JAP friends. Great for a meal or a get together with friends and family! Fresh out of the oven and it is now in the hands of my hubby while watching the super bowl..he is one happy football spectator!!

Provided by Carole F @BakersQueen

Categories     Beef

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 pound(s) ground round hamburger or more if desired
1 package(s) taco seasoning mix
1 can(s) black beans (drained)
1 small can of sliced dark olives
1 - onion, chopped (small to medium)
1 - green pepper, chopped (medium)
- grape tomatoes, cut in half (if on the larger size cut smaller)
1 pound(s) muenster cheese...shredded
- tortilla chips....corn

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. While preheating fry hamburger until done, and drain well. Now add the packet of taco seasoning mix (do NOT add water)...mix well with the beef until beef is coated well with seasoning. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Now line a 10x15 cookie sheet that has sides to it with tortilla chips about 2-3 layers deep..see photo attached.
  • Chop onion, green pepper and tomatoes. Drain most of the liquid from the black beans and also the black olives. Take your one pound block of muenster cheese and shred with shredder (I have never found it shredded in a a bag...this is a soft cheese, so I spray my shredder with Pam oil while shredding the cheese, it keeps it from sticking to the metal..you will have to do this several times while shredding). IF you can't find muenster cheese feel free to use monterey jack...it is delicious that way too. I sometimes combine the two cheeses..muenster with the monterey jack.
  • Next, Sprinkle meat over the tortilla chips, then layer with black beans, onion, tomato and green pepper. Add a layer of black olives. Then cover completely with shredded muenster cheese. If you want save a few veggies and place on top of cheese for garnish.
  • Bake in the oven on a rack that is placed in the middle of the oven...bake for 30 minutes until cheese melts and starts browning. Watch the chips that are around the edge of the pan as they have a tendency to burn easily..if so place foil over the sides of the pan to cover those that start to brown to quickly and continue baking for the 30 minutes.
  • Cut with a pizza cutter or knife..I also make this in a 12-14 inch pizza pan. Serve with sour cream, salsa and slices of avocado or your favorite gaucamole. Note: As for veggies, use to your taste on how much you want on the pizza...you will know just how much once you make this for yourself. Enjoy!!

Number Of Ingredients 8

3/4 cup maize flour (makai ka atta)
5 tbsp plain flour (maida)
2 tsp oil
1/4 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
1/2 tsp dried oregano
salt to taste
plain flour (maida) for rolling
oil for deep-frying

Steps:

  • For nacho chipsTo make nacho chips, combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl, mix well and knead into a soft dough using enough water.Divide the dough into 3 equal portions.Roll a portion into a 250 mm. (10") diameter circle using a little plain flour for rolling and prick it evenly with a fork.Cut into 16 equal triangles and keep aside.Heat the oil in a deep non-stick kadhai and deep-fry, a few nacho chips at a time, on a medium flame till they turn crisp and golden brown in colour from both the sides. Drain the nacho chips on an absorbent paper.Repeat steps 5 to 6 to make 32 more nacho chips in two more batches.Cool the nacho chips and store in an air-tight container. Use as required.
  • If you like this nacho chips recipe | corn chips | homemade Mexican nacho chips | deep fried Indian style nacho chips |, you can use it for other Nacho recipes like: Nachos with Salsa and Baked beans Cheesy Nachos Mexican Nacho Soup
  • To make crispy Nacho Chips, we first have to take a deep bowl and add the maize flour to it. Usually tortillas and nachos are both made with maize flour as it is a Mexican dish. It is pale yellow color and has bigger grains and is very different from corn flour, which is white in color. Now add the maida to this. As maize flour is gluten free, it doesn't have a stretchy quality when made into a dough and can easily tear when rolled. So we add the maida so that the dough comes together well. Now add the oil. Adding the oil to the dough results in crisp nacho chips. Now add the carom seeds to the flours. This will give a unique taste to the Nacho Chips. // Call display() to register the slot as ready // and refresh() to fetch an ad. googletag.cmd.push(function () { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1570706400435-0'); googletag.pubads().refresh([adslot0]); }); // Call display() to register the slot as ready // and refresh() to fetch an ad. var adslot1 = googletag.defineSlot('/1035919/Rcp_Step_BlockAd', [336, 280], "adslot1").setTargeting("test", "infinitescroll").addService(googletag.pubads()); googletag.cmd.push(function () { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1548320692495-0'); googletag.pubads().refresh([adslot1]); }); Also add dried oregano. Take a portion of the dough and flatten it on the rolling board. Roll the dough into a 250 mm. (10") diameter circle. Cut the rolled dough into 16 equal triangles and keep aside. Take a fork and prick the rolled dough evenly. When we prick the dough, it creates little holes in the dough which prevents the nacho chips from fluffing up when fried.
