Time 1h55m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 14

¾ cup butter, softened
¾ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
12 large marshmallows
3 cups confectioners' sugar
¼ cup water
½ cup chocolate chips
1 drop red food coloring, or as desired
1 drop yellow food coloring, or as desired

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Beat butter in a bowl using an electric mixer until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Beat white sugar, baking powder, and salt into butter until just combined. Beat egg, milk, and vanilla extract into butter-sugar mixture; add flour and mix until dough is just combined. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until dough is slightly chilled, about 10 minutes.
  • Scoop dough into balls slightly larger than golf balls; flatten into cookies. Arrange cookies on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until edges are golden brown, 10 to 20 minutes. Cool on baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely, at least 30 minutes.
  • Butter a microwave-safe plate. Place marshmallows on the prepared plate.
  • Microwave marshmallows until slightly puffed, 10 to 15 seconds. Gently press marshmallows until bottoms slightly ooze.
  • Whisk confectioners' sugar and water together in a bowl until icing is slightly thicker than drizzle-consistency. Pour icing over cookies so it runs over the edges, reserving about 1 tablespoon.
  • Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl, about 30 seconds. Pour melted chocolate into a piping bag with a small tip or a plastic bag with a corner snipped.
  • Press 1 marshmallow close to an edge of each cookie to be the snowman's head. Draw 'stick arms' onto the icing using the melted chocolate.
  • Divide the reserved 1 tablespoon icing into 2 small bowls. Mix red food coloring into 1 of the bowls and orange food coloring into the other bowl. Decorate the snowmen with scarves or ties using the red icing and yellow icing.

MELTED SNOWMAN PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

Melted Snowman Peanut Butter Cookies image

Provided by Valerie Bertinelli

Categories     dessert

Time 40m

Yield 12 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 7

About 8 ounces vanilla candy melting wafers
12 round peanut butter cookies (or sugar cookies)
4 marshmallows, cut crosswise into thirds
24 mini chocolate chips
12 orange sprinkles
6 mini peanut butter cups, halved and trimmed to look like brimmed hats
Assorted other sprinkles for decorating, if desired

Steps:

  • Melt the candy melting wafers according to the package directions. Spoon some of the melted candy on top of a cookie and spread it so it covers most of the cookie but has an irregular border. Place a slice of marshmallow toward the top edge and spoon some more melted candy on top, smoothing it to fully cover the marshmallow and blend it into the candy on the cookie.
  • Decorate the face of the snowman with mini chocolate chips for eyes and an orange sprinkle as a carrot nose. Place a peanut butter cup half on top of the snowman's head like a hat. Use other sprinkles to add a mouth or buttons if desired. Repeat with the remaining candy, cookies and decorations (rewarming the candy melts if necessary). Let the cookies set, about 10 minutes.

MELTED SNOWMAN COOKIES

Melted Snowman Cookies image

These cookies take some time, but you'll get so many compliments you won't even mind!

Provided by Elizabeth

Categories     Desserts     Cookies     Sugar Cookies

Time 3h

Yield 24

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 egg whites
8 cups confectioners' sugar, or as needed
¼ cup lemon juice, or as needed
24 sugar cookies
24 large marshmallows
1 (.75 ounce) tube black decorating gel
1 (.75 ounce) tube orange decorating gel
75 silver nonpareils, or as desired
1 (.75 ounce) tube red decorating gel
1 (.75 ounce) tube green decorating gel

Steps:

  • Beat egg whites lightly in a large bowl using an electric mixer until frothy. Slowly beat enough confectioners' sugar into egg whites to make icing that will hold shape; blend in lemon juice until desired consistency is reached.
  • Arrange cookies about 1-inch apart on a large sheet of waxed paper. Spread icing onto each cookie, allowing icing to drip over edges to look like melting snow.
  • Grease a microwave-safe plate. Place 1 marshmallow onto plate.
  • Microwave marshmallow until it starts to puff up, 20 to 30 seconds. Immediately place marshmallow on the edge of 1 cookie while the icing is still wet to look like a melted snowman. Repeat with remaining marshmallows and iced cookies.
  • Decorate 'melted snowmen' by piping 'twig-like arms' using black decorating gel on the icing. Make 'coal eyes' and a 'mouth' on the marshmallow using black decorating gel. Make a 'carrot nose' under the 'coal eyes' using orange decorating gel. Make 'coat buttons' by arranging silver nonpareils down the middle of the icing. Make 'scarves' or 'bow-ties' using red decorating gel or green decorating gel.
  • Allow cookies to fully dry before removing from waxed paper, at least 1 hour.

MELTED SNOWMAN COOKIES

Melted Snowman Cookies image

This Melted Snowman Cookies recipe is an easy and fun way to build sweet snowmen out of sugar cookies instead of snow. Simply combine a mix with 2 ingredients to quickly create the cutest Christmas cookies!

Provided by Jennifer Fishkind

Categories     Dessert

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 11

17.5 ounce sugar cookie mix
½ cup (1 stick) salted butter (softened)
1 large egg
16 ounce tub white frosting
1-2 tsp water or milk
12 full-sized marshmallows (cut in half widthwise)
7 ounce tube black cookie icing
7 ounce tube orange decorating icing
6.2 ounce (½ 12.4oz package) rainbow Twizzlers (sliced in half lengthwise)
12 straight pretzel sticks, (cut in half )
½ cup mini m&ms

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to the temperature on the cookie mix instructions (mine was 375 degrees Fahrenheit) and prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper or cooking spray.
  • Prepare sugar cookies using the salted butter and egg (my instructions also asked for water, but leave it out). You will be left with a crumbly texture that comes together when you squeeze the dough together.
  • Use a cookie scoop or spoon to form 1 ½ inch balls, spread 2 inches apart and bake for the recommended time (about 10-12 minutes) or until the edges are set and then let the cookies cool completely.
  • To decorate, begin by diluting the frosting with 1-2 teaspoons of water or milk. It should be slightly runny, but it shouldn't run down the sides of the cookie when applied.
  • Create a "melted puddle" on the tops of all the cookies using the white cookie icing. Use a piping bag and tip for best results. Note: Pipe the line on the outside of the puddle first, then fill in the puddle with more icing. Gently smooth out the edges with a butter knife. You will end up with a shiny, bright white, lovely puddle.
  • Take each marshmallow half and create the face of a snowman using the black decorating icing for eyes and mouth and the orange decorating icing for the nose.
  • Put some icing under the marshmallow to act as the glue, then place the marshmallow onto one side of the sugar cookie, touching the puddle but off to the side, as if the puddle has melted out from under the head.
  • Pick out your desired colored twizzlers to act as the snowman's scarves. Wrap the thinned twizzler piece around the base of the marshmallows.
  • Lay the pretzel sticks on the cookie for arms and the mini m&ms for the buttons. Make sure they are off-centered so that they look like they have melted off of the snowman's body.
  • Let the cookies set for about an hour before handing out to your guests and enjoy!

  • Preheat oven according to sugar cookie dough package. Cut dough evenly into 12 slices (they will be approximately 1/2 inch thick).
  • Since these are rather large, use a large cookie sheet and bake 6 at a time. Place cookie slices directly onto the baking sheet and press down with the palm of your hand. The objective is for them to be uneven, like a pool of water. This type of dough spreads and melts slightly, so don't fret over a uniform thickness. Bake according to package directions. Remove to cooling rack and repeat.
  • When cookies are fully cooled, allow them to remain on the cooling rack, but place a large baking sheet underneath. Take the top of the Wilton Cookie Icing and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. Massage the bottle to spread the warmth evenly and then pour over the top of each cookie, allowing it to flow off the edges. You can use the nozzle they give you, but it takes forever.
  • If you are adding candy for buttons, directly to the icing, now is the time to apply it. Cookie icing will harden and then if you want to add embellishments later you will need to adhere with another dab of icing.

  • Start by using a bit of melted chocolate or frosting to secure the mini vanilla wafer onto your sugar cookie. You don’t want it in the middle, so aim for the top half of your cookie.
  • Next you are going to take a big spoonful of chocolate (or heated frosting, see note) and drop it right onto the middle of your cookie. Holding the cookie in your hand, rotate it to get the chocolate to drip over the edges. The other option is to use the back of a spoon to spread it across the top of the cookie.
  • Immediately place an orange jimmy onto the face portion of your cookie. Allow the chocolate to set.
