Categories     Condiments

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 42

2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar, preferably raw (can substitute fresh lemon juice or white wine vinegar)
1/2 tsp Fine ground sea salt
1/4 tsp Freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp Dijon mustard
2 tbsp Shallots, finely chopped (can substitute with red or white onion)
6 tbsp Extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp Fine ground sea salt
1/2 tsp Freshly ground black pepper
2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar, preferably raw (can substitute fresh lemon juice)
1/4 cup Pickle relish, preferably fermented (if using sweet pickle relish, omit sugar)
1/4 cup Ketchup, preferably fermented
1/2 cup Sour cream, preferably cultured
1/4 cup Mayonnaise, preferably homemade
1-2 tsp Sugar, optional (if using - preferably "real" such as Sucanat)
1/2 tsp Fine ground sea salt
1/4 tsp Freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar, preferably raw (can substitute fresh lemon juice)
1/4 cup Sour cream, preferably cultured
1/4 cup Mayonnaise, preferably homemade
1/4 cup Blue cheese, crumbled (an American blue cheese works best)
1-2 tbsp Milk or buttermilk, optional (use to thin dressing to desired consistency, if needed)
1 tsp Fine ground sea salt
1/2 tsp Freshly ground black pepper
2 tsp Apple cider vinegar, preferably raw (can substitute fresh lemon juice)
1 tsp Dried parsley (can substitute 1 tablespoon fresh, fine chop)
1 tsp Dried chives (can substitute 1 tablespoon fresh, fine chop)
1 tsp Dried dill (can substitute 1 tablespoon fresh, fine chop)
1 clove Fresh garlic, minced
1/2 cup Sour cream, preferably cultured
1/4 cup Mayonnaise, preferably homemade
1/2 cup Buttermilk, preferably cultured real buttermilk (can substitute a store-bought cultured buttermilk product)
1 tsp Fine ground sea salt
1/2 tsp Freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar, preferably raw
1 clove Fresh garlic, crushed
1 bunch Fresh parsley, stems removed
1 Scallion (green onion), chopped
1 tsp Dried tarragon (can substitute 1 tablespoon fresh, fine chop)
1/2 cup Mayonnaise, preferably homemade
1/2 cup Sour cream, preferably cultured
1 tsp Anchovy paste, optional (can substitute 1 whole anchovy)

Steps:

  • Add salt and pepper to a jar or cruet and add the apple cider vinegar. Allow salt to dissolve.
  • Add mustard and shallot and mix.
  • Slowly add olive oil to allow dressing to emulsify.
  • If making the Italian Dressing, omit the mustard and shallot, and in their place, add 1 teaspoon of dried oregano or Italian seasoning and 1 garlic clove finely minced. (Optional, if you wish, you can use red wine vinegar in place of apple cider vinegar.)
  • If making the Balsamic Vinaigrette, start with the Italian Dressing but in place of the apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar, use balsamic vinegar. If you are using a high-quality aged balsamic vinegar, that should be sufficient. If you are using a lower-end, shorter-aged balsamic vinegar, you may need to add some dried cane juice (Sucanat) or another sweetener, such as maple sugar or light brown sugar. Start with 1 teaspoon. At most, you should need no more than 2 teaspoons of sweetener. You may also wish to omit the oregano if making Balsamic Vinaigrette, so as to not overpower the balsamic flavor.
  • Add salt and pepper to a jar and add the apple cider vinegar. Allow salt to dissolve.
  • Add relish and ketchup to jar and mix.
  • Add sour cream, mayonnaise, and sugar (if using), and mix well until all the ingredients are incorporated, and the dressing takes on a light pink hue.
  • Add salt and pepper to a jar and add the apple cider vinegar. Allow salt to dissolve.
  • Add sour cream, mayonnaise, and blue cheese to jar and mix well.
  • If a thinner consistency is desired, add milk or buttermilk to thin, starting with 1 tablespoon.
  • Add salt and pepper to a jar and then add the apple cider vinegar. Allow the salt to dissolve.
  • Add all remaining ingredients to the jar and mix well.
  • Add salt, pepper, mustard, and garlic to a food processor or blender and process for a few seconds to chop garlic.
  • Add vinegar and process for a few more seconds to help dissolve the salt.
  • Add parsley and scallion and process until finely chopped.
  • Add tarragon, mayo, sour cream, and anchovy paste (if using) and process for 1 minute until dressing is smooth and turns a light green color.

HOMEMADE BLUE CHEESE DRESSING (BETTER THAN STORE-BOUGHT)

Homemade Blue Cheese Dressing (Better Than Store-Bought) image

This easy homemade blue cheese dressing is extra creamy and perfect for tossing with salad or used as a dipping sauce. Depending on what you plan to use the blue cheese dressing for, you might consider adding a little milk or water. Without it, the dressing is thick, which makes it perfect for dipping. If you want it to be pourable like a salad dressing, a splash of milk or water is the key.

Provided by Adam and Joanne Gallagher

Categories     Salad Dressing

Time 5m

Yield Makes about 1/2 cup

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise, try our homemade mayonnaise recipe
2 ounces crumbled blue cheese
1 tablespoon minced parsley
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, optional
Pinch fine sea salt
Pinch fresh ground pepper
Milk, buttermilk or water to thin out the dressing, optional

Steps:

  • Combine the sour cream, mayonnaise, blue cheese, parsley, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a small bowl and stir until well blended and creamy.
  • Use the back of a spoon to press some of the blue cheese crumbles into the sauce for even more flavor. The dressing will be thick, which makes it perfect for dips.
  • For a pourable dressing that's perfect for salads, stir in a tablespoon or two of milk, buttermilk or water. Taste then adjust with additional lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Keep, tightly covered, in the refrigerator for one week.

THE ULTIMATE CREAMY BLUE CHEESE DRESSING & DIP

The Ultimate Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing & Dip image

I have discovered Blue Cheese Dressing & Dip nirvana! I have yet to find a ready made that I like. I came up with this when serving Buffalo Chicken Wings last week. Why start from scratch when you can cheat?! :D Super simple and full of garlicy goodness & blue cheese. Great as a salad dressing, raw veggie dip, Buffalo Chicken Wings, etc. I have listed the full 12 ounce jar of Marie's Caesar dressing and 5 oz container of blue cheese. Use as much or as little of each ingredients as you like. The bottom line is, estimate how much you will need & make it to your liking. Thin it with mayo & milk if you are looking for a thinner dressing. Make it thicker ( dressing & blue cheese only) for dipping. Serving size is arbitrary based on the ingredients amounts you decide to use.

Categories     Very Low Carbs

Time 15m

Yield 2-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

12 ounces creamy caesar salad dressing, jar Marie's All Natural brand found in the refrigerated section
5 ounces crumbled blue cheese, I prefer Treasure Cave Brand
1 tablespoon milk, used to thin the dressing
1 tablespoon real Hellmann's mayonnaise, lite works, used to stretch the amount of dressing (optional)
pepper, as needed

Steps:

  • Decide how much Caesar dressing you will need.
  • Add enough blue cheese crumbles to suit your taste. I like LOTS!
  • If your dressing is too thick, add milk to thin or mayonnaise to stretch the amount of dressing. Mix, check for seasoning & adding more blue cheese or creamy caesar.
  • Add pepper to taste.
  • Combine all ingredients, but don't smooth out the chunks of blue cheese. That would be criminal!
  • Serve and enjoy!

  • Whisk the sour cream, mayonnaise, and 1/4 cup buttermilk together. Either very finely chop the clove of garlic or use a microplane to break it up. Add the garlic, garlic powder, lemon, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce, and whisk to combine.
  • Now start adding the crumbled blue cheese. I added about a cup, but you might want to add less if you don't want your dressing to be super chunky. If the dressing becomes too thick, just add some buttermilk. The dressing will thicken as it sits, so add more buttermilk as necessary.
