1/2 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 eggs
10 slices (1 inch thick) French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (9 cups)
1 can (11 oz) mandarin orange segments, drained
Powdered sugar, if desired
1 jar (about 12 oz) orange marmalade, warmed

Steps:

  • Generously spray 2 1/2-quart casserole or 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. In large bowl, beat flour, milk, granulated sugar, orange peel, vanilla, salt and eggs with electric mixer on medium speed about 2 minutes or until smooth. Stir in bread cubes until coated.
  • Pour bread mixture into casserole. Top evenly with orange segments. Cover; refrigerate at least 8 hours but no longer than 24 hours.
  • Heat oven to 400°F. Uncover; bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with orange marmalade.

6 large eggs, lightly beaten
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 cup half-and-half cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
8 thick slices cinnamon bread
1/4 cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a shallow bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Dip both sides of bread into egg mixture; let soak for 5 minutes. Place in a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Cover and refrigerate overnight. , Uncover; drizzle with butter. Bake at 325° for 35-40 minutes or until browned.

6 large eggs
1/2 cup orange juice
1/3 cup half-and-half cream
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon grated orange zest
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch salt
8 to 10 slices French bread (3/4 inch thick)
1/4 cup butter, cubed
ORANGE BUTTER:
1 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup orange marmalade
3 tablespoons chopped mandarin oranges

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs, orange juice, cream, sugar, orange zest, vanilla and salt. Dip the bread in egg mixture, coating each side. Place in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Pour remaining egg mixture over the bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. , In a large skillet, melt butter; add bread. Cook until golden brown on each side and cooked through. , Meanwhile, in a small bowl, beat orange butter ingredients in a small bowl until blended. Serve with French toast.

Steps:

  • Spray 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish with cooking spray. In a large bowl, beat first seven (7) ingredients together until smooth. Stir in bread cubes until coated.
  • Pour bread mixture into casserole. Top evenly with orange segments. Cover. Refrigerated at least 8 hours but no longer that 24.
  • Heat oven to 400°. Uncover bread mixture and bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired, and serve with orange marmalade.

1 1/2 cups half-and-half
1 teaspoon dried lavender flowers
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1 large loaf soft white Italian bread, cut into 1-inch slices, crusts removed (may use soft French bread)
5 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
powdered sugar
pure maple syrup

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, over med-low heat, warm cream and lavender for 5 minutes or until steaming.
  • Remove from heat and let cool while you prepare the remaining ingredients.
  • In another small saucepan, over medium heat, combine brown sugar, butter, and maple syrup, stirring until smooth and sugar has dissolved.
  • Pour into 13 x 9 inch glass baking dish.
  • Arrange bread slices in a single layer on top, pushing the slices tightly together.
  • In a big bowl, whisk together eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Strain cream mixture through a fine sieve into egg mixture, discarding lavender; whisk to combine.
  • Pour evenly over bread.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 350°; meanwhile, let casserole stand at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  • Uncover and bake for 35-40 minutes or until bubbling and golden brown.
  • Serve hot, with a sprinkling of powdered sugar and a light drizzle of maple syrup.

Steps:

  • Whisk eggs in a small bowl. Combine with milk and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • Dip bread into egg mixture, turning to coat sides evenly.
  • Spray a large non-stick pan or griddle with spray oil, and heat bread slices over medium heat until browned on both sides.
  • Meanwhile, spray a small pan with spray oil; heat orange segments over medium heat, about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently at the end, until segments are slightly browned.
  • In a small bowl, combine ricotta with remaining vanilla extract.
  • Top toast with ricotta mixture, orange segments, and a sprinkling or orange zest.
