These low-fat brownies make a wonderfully chocolately treat. The fat is cut by using canola oil, applesauce, and egg whites.

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup Dutch process cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons canola oil
4 ounces unsweetened applesauce
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 egg (lightly beaten)
2 egg whites

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. Spray an 8- by 8-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  • Whisk the flour, cocoa, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a small bowl.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the oil, applesauce, vanilla, egg, and egg whites .
  • Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients just until well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 20 minutes, until the sides pull away from the edge of the pan.
  • Cool in the pan and then cut into 16 squares.
  • Enjoy.

1/2 Cup (60g) white whole wheat flour
1/4 Tsp Baking Powder
1/4 Tsp Baking Soda
1/4 Tsp Salt
1/3 Cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
Just less than 1/2 Cup (168g) of honey
1/2 Cup (121g) unsweetened apple sauce
2 Tbsps (28g) coconut oil
1/2 Tsp vanilla extract
1 Egg

Steps:

  • In a microwavable safe bowl add the honey
  • Microwave 30-45 sec (or until liquid-y)
  • Now add in the unsweetened cocoa powder and mix until combined
  • Set that bowl aside and get out a larger bowl for your dry ingredients
  • Add all dry ingredients to the bowl and combine well
  • Set that bowl aside and bring back your honey mixture
  • Add the rest of your wet ingredients to the honey mixture and mix until smooth and chocolatey
  • Now pour the wet ingredients into the dry and combine all of the ingredients until smooth
  • In an 8x8 baking tray add your batter and bake at 350 degrees | 177 Celsius for around 25 minutes
  • Cool in the tray for about 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling

2 Tbsp butter
1 oz chopped unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c flour
1/3 c cooking cocoa powder
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 c buttermilk
1 c sugar
1/4 c egg beaters egg substitute
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 c frozen fat-free whipped topping, thawed
2 drops green liquid food coloring
2 drops peppermint extract

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350. Line an 8" pan w/ foil, letting some foil hang over sides. Spray the foil w/ cooking spray.
  • 2. In microwave-safe bowl, microwave butter and chocolate in 10-second intervals, stirring until smooth. In lg bowl, combine flour, baking cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. W/ mixer on low speed, beat buttermilk, sugar, egg beaters and vanilla in another bowl.
  • 3. Beat in the flour mix, then beat in the chocolate mix. Pour mix into pan and bake 25 min, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 mins. using foil, lift brownies from pan, cool completely. Cut into 25 squares. In bowl, stir together whippedd topping, food coloring and extract. Dollop topping onto each brownie.

  • Whisk the eggs in a bowl until very well-beaten. Add the beaten eggs to the brownie mixture and mix very well until combined. The batter will look grainy and strange - this is normal!
