LIME GELATIN SALAD I

Lime Gelatin Salad I image

This is a great recipe my mom got from my aunt. She has made it every year for Thanksgiving. It is a family tradition for us. It can be made a day or two ahead of time, if you like. It looks just beautiful in a cut crystal bowl. Thanksgiving is not the same without it for us! We just 'gobble' it up! Chopped walnuts can be substituted for chopped pecans.

Perfection Salad was invented in 1905 when Knox gelatin ran a recipe contest. A Pennsylvania woman won 3rd place with this salad and, now her salad is famous and the other 2 recipes that got the higher awards are unknown. AMISH DRY LIME GELATIN SALAD / DESSERT (JELLO)

Amish Dry Lime Gelatin Salad / Dessert (Jello) image

Found on www.AmishDining.com. A recipe seldom gets any easier than this one. Kids could make this with just a bit of supervision. My mother used to make something like this that had these same ingredients. This is much like her's, and since she was not a dessert maker, I am sure she would have opted for a simple recipe. Other flavors of gelatin work too, like Cherry and Strawberry which are perfect for Valentine's Day. NOTE: Times do not include the 2-3 hours for chilling time. Servings are approximate.
