LEMON SHAKE-UP

Lemon Shake-Up image

A quick and easy lemon drink that is often sold at street festivals and the like. I like to make this at home for my daughter- takes up less space than a pitcher of lemonade in the refrigerator, and only a few minutes to make.

Provided by PalatablePastime

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/2 fresh lemon (or more, depending on your taste, size of lemon or how juicy it is)
12 ounces distilled water (may use tap water if you prefer that)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
ice cube (as needed)

Steps:

  • Place water in a covered shaker and squeeze lemon into it until it is completely juiced (you may like to cut the lemon pieces into quarters to do this as they are easier to handle, or use a reamer instead).
  • Pour the sugar into the shaker and add just a few ice cubes to agitate but do not overfill your shaker.
  • Affix the lid or cap and shake mixture until the sugar completely dissolves.
  • Pour lemon shake-up into a large serving glass (about a 24 oz size or larger) and add more ice to fill the glass as needed.
  • Drink up and be prepared to make more!

LEMON SHAKE UPS

Lemon Shake Ups image

Make this refreshing state fair treat right at home! Lemon Shake Ups are the perfect drink for spring and summer.

Provided by Nicole Burkholder

Categories     Beverage

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lemon (halved)
3 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 cups ice
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Squeeze the juice (or use a hand juicer) from the lemon into a quart sized mason jar, a shaker, or anything else you can fill and cover tightly. It just needs to be at least 16 oz. Toss one half of the lemon in with the juice.
  • Add the sugar
  • Fill the jar/cup/shaker with 1 1/2- 2 cups of ice. Basically, you just want to fill it up to the top.
  • Add enough water to cover the ice
  • Cover and shake briskly, until the sugar is mostly dissolved. It will actually turn into this wonderful, sweet "sludge" at the bottom of the cup. Drink straight from your shaker or pour into a glass. Just make sure you get all the sweet goodness out of the cup!
  • For a nice extra touch, serve in glasses with a sugared rim!

  • Add the simple syrup, lemon juice, and water to a drink shaker and shake until well combined. Pour over ice in a large cup. Add a fresh lemon slice for a garnish if desired. Best. Lemonade. Ever. And if you like it a little more tart, cut the simple syrup down to 1/3 cup.
  • If you don’t have a drink shaker just pour everything in the cup and stir. I use the shaker because it strains the lemon seeds out which is nice because I serve my lemonade with a straw. Straws and seeds don’t mix well.

LEMON SHAKE-UP RECIPE - A REFRESHING SUMMER DRINK - HOME ...
2016-06-04 Making Lemon Shake-Ups at home means I can choose my own sweetener. Most of the time, I use a stevia-based sweetener such as Truvia or Pure Via.
