- In 12-inch skillet or 4-quart Dutch oven, heat oil over medium heat 1 to 2 minutes. Add beef; cook about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown on all sides.
- Add water, 1/2 teaspoon salt and the pepper. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low. Cover; simmer 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes or until beef is almost tender.
- Stir in remaining ingredients except cold water and flour. Cover; cook about 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Remove bay leaf.
- In tightly covered jar or container, shake cold water and flour; gradually stir into beef mixture. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute until thickened.

Steps:
- Mix flour, garlic salt, and black pepper together in a shallow dish.
- Gently press beef cubes into the flour mixture to coat evenly.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; cook and stir beef in batches in hot oil until browned completely, about 5 minutes per batch. Remove browned beef with a slotted spoon to a bowl until all beef is browned.
- Stir water and beef stew seasoning mix together in a slow cooker until the seasoning is dissolved into the liquid. Add browned beef, potatoes, onion, diced tomatoes with green chile peppers, and hot pepper sauce.
- Cook on High, 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours. Add frozen corn and continue cooking until the corn is hot, about 30 minutes more.

- Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
- Grease a large casserole dish. Put in beef, carrots, soup, bay leaf, potatoes, onions and 1/2 cup red wine. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 4 hours.
- Remove cover and stir in peas, mushrooms and the rest of the red wine. Cook for 1 hour longer.

- Combine flour and pepper; coat beef cubes.
- Reserve remaining flour mixture. In 3 tablespoons of hot oil, brown beef, and remove when brown.
- Sauté onion, celery and garlic until tender.
- Return beef to pan.
- Add beef, broth, wine and spices.
- Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce to simmer, cover and continue cooking for 1-3/4 hours.
- Add remaining vegetables and cook covered another 45 minutes longer or until meat and vegetables are tender, but not mushy.
- Thicken broth if necessary with 2 tablespoons of the flour mixed with 2 tablespoons water.

- Place the beef, ginger, and peppercorn in cold water, enough to cover the beef. Bring the water to a boil. Let it boil for about five minutes. Remove the beef, wash and cut into chunks.
- Heat some vegetable oil. Saute the ginger, garlic, and scallion until aromatic. Add the blanched beef. Stir-fry for five minutes or until the beef turn slightly brown.
- Add the ingredients in the seasoning section.
- Add the dried orange peel, bay leaves, and star anise.
- Stew over low heat for two hours. Turn the beef occasionally to avoid sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Add the cut radish. Continue cooking for 30-45 minute or until the radish becomes soft.
- Dish out and garnish with chopped scallion.

- Heat olive oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Season steak with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Working in batches, add steak to the stockpot and cook, stirring occasionally, until evenly browned, about 6-8 minutes; set aside. Add onion, carrots and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 3-4 minutes. Add garlic and mushrooms, and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender and browned, about 3-4 minutes. Whisk in flour and tomato paste until lightly browned, about 1 minute. Stir in wine, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the stockpot. Stir in beef stock, thyme, bay leaves and steak. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until beef is very tender, about 30 minutes. Stir in potato; simmer until potatoes are just tender and stew has thickened, about 20 minutes. Remove and discard thyme sprigs and bay leaves. Stir in parsley; season with salt and pepper, to taste.* Serve immediately.
