RICE KRISPIE SQUARES
Everyone's favorite. My version is stickier and gooier than the original. Make it seasonal by using the Holiday coloured cereal. Naturally gluten-free too.

Steps:
- Spray large glass bowl with cooking spray to grease well. Also grease a 13 x 9 inch pan and set aside.
- In large glass bowl, microwave margarine for 30 seconds or so to melt. Stir in marshmallows and microwave another 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, in 30 second bursts, stirring after each burst. Stir till marshmallows are all melted and blended. Stir in vanilla.
- While marshmallows are melting, measure out cereal in a separate large bowl or measuring cup. As soon as marshmallow mixture is completely melted and smooth, stir in cereal, working as quickly as you can.
- Turn out into greased 13" x 9" pan. Smooth and press down with back of spoon or greased hand. Cool before cutting.
THE ORIGINAL RICE KRISPIES TREATS SQUARES
This is the recipe for the original rice krispies treats squares...It never fails! Plus, it is a great way to use up a box of cereal! For best results, use fresh marshmallows. I have replaced the butter once with Mott's Healthy Baking butter or oil substitute (it was basically an unsweetened apple sauce) and they still turned out great!

Steps:
- Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat.
- Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
- Remove from heat.
- (It would be perfect to be measuring out all of the cereal at this time, having it ready in a large bowl.).
- Working quickly, add rice krispies cereal, and stir until the cereal is well coated.
- Using a buttered spatula or waxed paper, press the mixture evenly into a greased 13 by 9 by 2 inch pan (or whatever pan you have on hand).
- When the treats are cooled, cut into squares.
- Serve, and enjoy!

Steps:
- Add water and yeast together in a your stand mixer and set aside for 10 minutes.
- Add in the milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and 2 cups of the flour.
- Turn the stand mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes, then add in the rest of the flour and mix until just combined.
- Take the bowl out of the stand mixer and cover with a clean towel to let it rise for 1 hour.
- When you can push down on the dough and your fingerprint stays you're ready to move on to the next step.
- Working with half the dough at a time, roll it to 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface.
- Dip your doughnut cutter in flour and cut out a dozen doughnuts with each half of the dough and out onto wax paper.
- Let rise, covered, in a warm spot for 30-45 mins (I did 45)
- In a cast iron pan or other deep saucepan, heat the vegetable shortening to 375 degrees.
- Please use a thermometer to measure the temperature as this is a critical step.
- Fry the doughnuts on each side for 90 seconds.
- Drain on a cooling rack until you finish cooking them all then dip into the glaze.
- To make the glaze, add the powdered sugar, milk and corn syrup to a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds.
- Most importantly, eat with reckless abandon.
