You can make this avocado salad smooth or chunky depending on your tastes.

3 avocados - peeled, pitted, and mashed
1 lime, juiced
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup diced onion
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
2 roma (plum) tomatoes, diced
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 pinch ground cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mash together the avocados, lime juice, and salt. Mix in onion, cilantro, tomatoes, and garlic. Stir in cayenne pepper. Refrigerate 1 hour for best flavor, or serve immediately.

Avocados need to be extremely ripe. They should be blackish brown in color and soft to the touch. In most cases I have often thought that the avocado looks like it's bad rather than fresh. But the riper the avacado the sweeter the taste.

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 ripe avocados (and I mean ripe! The riper the better)
1 lime, juiced
1/2 red onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tomatoes, diced
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Pit and halve avocados and scoop out flesh into a mixing bowl.
  • Mash avocados with a fork, leaving it still a bit chunky.
  • Add remaining ingredients, gently mix.
  • Refrigerate covered with plastic wrap for at least 1 hour before serving.
