KID-FRIENDLY PASTA SALAD

Steps:
- Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions. Then drain and rinse in cold water until cool. Set aside.
- Cut the bacon into 1/2-inch pieces and throw into a large skillet. Saute until slightly crisp, and then remove to a paper-towel-lined-plate.
- For the dressing, mix the mayonnaise, milk, vinegar, salt, and sugar if using in a small bowl.
- Stir together the pasta, dressing, tomatoes, bacon, Cheddar and green onions in a large mixing bowl. Taste for seasonings, adding more salt and pepper if needed.
- Stir in the basil at the end.

- Add just under a 1/2" of water to a large saucepan, and place steamer basket inside of saucepan. If water comes over the steamer basket, remove and discard of water until the bottom of the steamer basket is no longer touching the surface of the water. Place over medium-low heat, and add the frozen broccoli. Cover with lid, and allow to steam for 12 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender enough to easily pierce with a fork. Remove the lid and set aside to cool.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add green beans, pasta and peas to the boiling water and allow to cook for 5-6 minutes, or until green beans are tender, stirring occasionally. Strain the pasta and vegetables, and set aside to cool.
- Once the pasta and vegetables have cooled, transfer to a large mixing bowl, and add the broccoli and the Cheddar cheese. Drizzle with Italian dressing, sprinkle with salt (if using) and toss until all of the ingredients are evenly coated. Serve right away, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
