This is a copycat recipe from copyKat.com that I found. My wife says it's her favorite BBQ sauce now. We make this, use what we want the first time, and put it back in the bottle for storage.

1 (18 ounce) bottle hickory smoke barbecue sauce
1/2 cup water
4 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 teaspoons liquid smoke

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a small saucepan.
  • Heat over medium to medium low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  • Let cool to desired temperature.

  • Directions: 1 Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir ingredients until well combined. 2 Bring to a boil; reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered for 20 minutes. 3 Bottle and store in the refrigerator. This will keep for a good while, but probably won't last. 2 cups tomato ketchup
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons molasses
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons liquid smoke
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon ground sage
1 tablespoon hickory smoke salt
2 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice
1 1/2 teaspoons plain sweet chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons ground paprika
1 teaspoon ground celery salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • NOTE: USE UNSEASONED CHILI POWDER. (STEP ONE): GRIND all of the dry seasonings EXCEPT ground black pepper (from ground sage through cayenne pepper) in a spice mill or coffee grinder.
  • WHISK the ground spices with remaining ingredients well in a medium saucepan (don't forget to add the ground black pepper).
  • HEAT sauce to a gentle boil, then REDUCE heat to a low heat setting (approximately the numeric "2" setting on rangetop control).
  • SIMMER sauce about one hour, whisking occasionally, until reduced to almost half (just slightly over 2 cups, or 1 pint).
  • COOL barbecue sauce completely.
  • FUNNEL into plastic squeeze bottles or Ball canning jars.
  • USE as you would any barbecue sauce.
  • SUGGESTION: Serve with barbecued chicken or ribs, or pulled pork sandwiches.
  • STORE refrigerated and capped.
  • ENJOY!

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
20 chicken drummettes
2 cups barbecue sauce (use only Bull's-Eye brand)
3/4 cup honey
vegetable oil, for deep-frying

Steps:

  • Combine the flour, salt, and pepper in a dish and coat the chicken in the flour mixture.
  • Heat the barbecue sauce and honey in a saucepan. Once warm, reduce the heat to a simmer.
  • Add the oil to a deep-fryer and theat to 375°.
  • Deep-fry the chicken, 6 to 8 pieces at a time, for 15 minutes or until cooked thoroughly.
  • Drain the chicken on paper towels and smother with the barbecue sauce mixture.

2 lbs chicken tenders
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground pepper
1 cup buttermilk
vegetable oil (for frying)
1 cup hickory flavored barbecue sauce (Hienz)
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 teaspoon liquid smoke

Steps:

  • Mix flour, salt and pepper in bowl.
  • Set aside.
  • Place buttermilk in seperate bowl.
  • Heat oil for frying and dips chicken strips in flour then in buttermilk and then in flour again.
  • Place in hot oil and fry until lightly golden brown.
  • Remove strips and drain.
  • Place all BBQ sauce ingredients in a small sauce pan and simmer on low stirring frequently for 20 minutes. Let sauce cool.
  • Dip one chicken strip in sauce at a time and place in a baking pan that has been sprayed lightly with a non stick spray.
  • Place in a preheated oven at 350 and bake for 20 minutes.
