Why make boring steamed green beans when you can glaze them with delicious broth, butter and garlic? Yum!

3/4 lb whole fresh green beans, ends cut off
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup Progresso™ unsalted chicken broth (from 32-oz carton)

Steps:

  • Place green beans in medium microwavable bowl with 1 tablespoon water. Cover with plastic wrap, folding back one edge 1/4 inch to vent steam. Microwave on High 5 minutes; let stand 1 minute, then drain.
  • In 10-inch skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add green beans. Add garlic and salt; toss to coat. Add broth; boil 4 to 6 minutes or until liquid is almost gone.

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and snapped in half
3 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 pinches lemon pepper
salt to taste

Steps:

  • Place green beans into a large skillet and cover with water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until beans start to soften, about 5 minutes. Drain water. Add butter to green beans; cook and stir until butter is melted, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Cook and stir garlic with green beans until garlic is tender and fragrant, 3 to 4 minutes. Season with lemon pepper and salt.

1 pound frozen green beans
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
6 cloves peeled garlic, thinly sliced
4 strips pre-cooked bacon
Salt and pepper

Steps:

  • In a microwave safe bowl, add green beans and 1 tablespoon water. Cover with plastic wrap and cook on high setting for 6 to 8 minutes or until crisp-tender.
  • While green beans are cooking; in a large frying pan, heat the butter, oil, sliced garlic, and chopped bacon gently over medium heat. NOTE: Do not let garlic burn - a light golden brown is as dark as garlic should get.
  • Drain any liquid from the green beans and add to frying pan. Toss to coat beans and season with salt and pepper.

1 lb fresh green beans (cut into 3-inch pieces)
2 tablespoons butter
3 garlic cloves (finely minced)
1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granule (not cube!)
1/4 cup white wine or 1/4 cup sherry wine
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Steam or boil green beans for 4-5 minutes until crisp-tender.
  • In medium skillet over medium heat melt butter, add garlic, and saute for 3 minutes or until tender and fragant.
  • Add green beans, stir well to coat with the butter/garlic mixture, sprinkle chicken bouillon over beans and stir to mix, then saute another 5 minutes to desired doneness.
  • Turn heat up to medium high, then pour in the wine and let it sizzle and evaporate most of the alcohol. Lower heat, add salt and pepper to taste, and stir thoroughly. Serve immediately!
  • NOTES : These have become a regular addition to our table! Frozen green beans work OK, garden fresh is much better! Enjoy.
