EASY STRAWBERRY TRIFLE

This is an easy, delicious and light dessert. Great at the end of any meal, just make sure you have enough on hand.

1/2 cup vanilla wafer, coarsely crushed
1 angel food cake, cut up into bite size pieces
1 (3 1/2 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding or 1 (3 1/2 ounce) package pie filling
1 cup skim milk
12 ounces light whipped topping
1 -2 pint strawberry, sliced
1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely crushed (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix pudding/pie filling with milk and beat until its dissolved. Let stand a couple of minutes so it will stiffen a bit.
  • Add Whipped Topping and whisk in until completely blended.
  • Place half the crushed wafers in the bottom of a trifle bowl.
  • Place some of the pudding mixture on top of wafers and carefully spread.
  • Layer cake pieces on top of mixture followed by layer of strawberries.
  • Repeat and if you have any pudding mixture left dollop on top of berries.
  • Top with walnuts, optional.

1 small angel food cake
3 ounces sugar-free strawberry gelatin
10 ounces frozen strawberries, thawed
2 bananas
2 (9 ounce) boxes sugar-free instant vanilla pudding mix
9 ounces light whipped topping

Steps:

  • Tear cake into bite size pieces and place in bottom of ungreased 9" x 13" pan.
  • Dissolve gelatin in 1 cup boiling water- no cold water. Add strawberries and their juice to gelatin.
  • Spoon evenly over cake pieces.
  • Slice bananas on top and refrigerate while you prepare the pudding, which should be made with skim milk.
  • Pour pudding over the bananas and top with lite whipped topping. Refrigerate 1 to 2 hours.
  • Cut into squares to serve.
  • Garnish with a slice of fresh strawberry, if available.

Steps:

  • Stir 1 1/2 cups boiling water into jello until completely dissolved. Stir in 1 1/2 cup cold water, pour into 13x9 pan. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm. Cut into cubes. Layer cubes and then pound cake cubes, 1/2 tub cool whip and 2 cups sliced strawberries. Top with remaining cool whip. Refrigerate 1 hour or until ready to serve.

2 1/2 cups milk
2 (3 1/2 ounce) packages jello instant chocolate pudding mix
1 container Cool Whip
brownie, cut into cubes (I usually buy a small package of store bakery ones.)
1 pint raspberries or 1 pint strawberry

Steps:

  • Pour 2 1/2 cups milk into large bowl.
  • Add 2 pkgs jello instant chocolate pudding.
  • Beat with whire whisk until well blended.
  • Mix in 1 tub cool whip topping, thawed.
  • Layer brownie cubes, pudding and cool whip mixture, raspberries or strawberries and additional cool whip in large glass bowl as desired.
  • Refrigerate 1 hour or until ready to serve.
  • Makes 16 servings.

This is my version of strawberry trifle. I make it with different cakes and puddings, depending on my mood. Try it they way you think you might like it and let me know.

2 quarts fresh strawberries
1 (10 ounce) jar strawberry glaze
1 (18 ounce) box yellow cake mix
2 (3 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding
2 (8 ounce) Cool Whip

Steps:

  • Hull and slice strawberries and put into a large bowl. Add strawberry glaze and set aside to get sweet. (You could use cherry filling, pineapple with preserves or whatever you like).
  • Make pudding according to directions. (You could use white chocolate, cheesecake or chocolate pudding). Set in refrigerator until ready to use.
  • Bake cake according to directions for a 13 x 9 cake. (You could use pound cake, angel food cake or even chocolate cake)
  • When cake is cool, cut into cubes.
  • Using a punch bowl, or any large glass bowl, layer 1/3 of the cake. Spread 1/3 of strawberry glaze over cake. Add 1/3 of the pudding. Top with 1/3 of cool whip.
  • Repeat layers ending with cool whip.
  • Cover and refrigerate for about 3 hours.
  • I make it with strawberries, yellow cake mix and cheesecake pudding.
  • Try strawberries, pound cake and white chocolate or cherries, chocolate cake with cheesecake pudding -- or whatever -- try one and let me know! Just have fun!

This fresh, surprisingly light dessert is great for warm summer days and brunches, but even at Christmas, it's bright colors and summer flavors are a welcome and refreshing delight!

1 pkg small strawberry jello
1 prepared angel food cake, cut into cubes
1 c mashed strawberries combined w/ 1 tsp sugar
2 c sliced strawberries
1 c sliced bananas
8 oz can pineapple chunks in juice
2 c milk
1 pkg small instant vanilla pudding mix
8 oz cool whip, thawed
2 c water

Steps:

  • 1. Dissolve strawberry Jello in 1 c boiling water. Add 1 c cold water. Refrigerate in a shallow dish for 1 hour until slightly thickened. Toss banana slices with 1/4 c of the pineapple juice from the can. Set aside. Chop pineapple chunks if desired.
  • 2. While the Jello is setting up, start your trifle layers. Place half of the cake cubes in the bottom of a trifle dish. Put half of the mashed strawberries and sliced strawberries on top. Add half of the bananas and half of the pineapple pieces next. Spoon half of the prepared Jello on top. Refrigerate trifle for 20-30 minutes.
  • 3. In a small bowl, whisk the pudding mix with the milk for 2 minutes. Let sit for 2 minutes to thicken. Spread half of the pudding on the trifle. Repeat all layers - cake, strawberries (mashed and sliced), bananas, pineapple, Jello, and pudding. Top with Cool Whip. Serve immediately or refrigerate until serving. *Optionally, you may add 1/4 c toasted slivered almonds to the top when serving.

1/4 cup orange liqueur or 1/4 cup orange juice
1 container Cool Whip Topping, thawed
1 package Jello Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix, prepared (4 servings)
2 1/2 cups sliced strawberries
1/4 cup sugar
6 baker's white chocolate baking squares, grated
1 whole strawberry (for garnish)

Steps:

  • Drizzle cake cubes with liqueur or juice.
  • Fold 1/2 cup whipped topping into prepared pudding.
  • Sprinkle strawberries with sugar.
  • Assemble trifle by layering into deep glass bowl, half each of cake cubes, pudding mixture, strawberries and chocolate.
  • Repeat layers, ending with chocolate.
  • Top with additional whipped topping; garnish with additional whole berries.
  • Chill.
