SLOW-COOKED TURKEY SLOPPY JOES

- In a large skillet coated with cooking spray, cook the turkey, onion, celery and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the soup, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar and pepper., Transfer to a 3-qt. slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours. Serve on buns.

I was trying to figure out how to make a really good dinner out of turkey, something I have never done before. When I made this all I got were positive replies. I got this recipe and totally redid it, and it turned out great!

- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat; cook and stir turkey, onion, bell pepper, and tomato until turkey is crumbly and no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Stir in ketchup, barbeque sauce, mustard, vinegar, celery seed, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve turkey mixture on toasted hamburger buns.

- In a large skillet, cook turkey, onion and pepper over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until turkey is no longer pink and vegetables are tender, breaking up turkey into crumbles., Stir in tomato sauce, barbecue sauce and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes to allow flavors to blend, stirring occasionally. Serve on buns.

ITALIAN SLOPPY JOES - THE SKINNYISH DISH

- In a large skillet over medium high heat add ground beef and sprinkle with kosher salt. Break the ground beef up and then add onions and garlic. Cook for a few minutes until meat is browned and onions are soft. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, basil, and oregano. Stir together and reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for 10-12 minutes. Salt & Pepper to taste.
- While the Sloppy Joe mixture is continuing to cook, prepare the garlic bread slices. Place 6 slices of thick texas toast, spray with spray butter, and sprinkle with Italian Seasoning, garlic powder, and kosher salt on each side. Place into preheated 415 degree oven and bake for 10 minutes flipping at the half way mark, until bread is golden brown. (Use whatever method of garlic bread you would like. )
- When the garlic bread is done scoop one half heaping cup of sloppy joe meat onto each slice of toasted bread and evenly top with shredded mozzarella. (about 2.5 tbs on each pile)

- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Swirl to coat the bottom and then add in the onion, red bell pepper and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the ground turkey to the vegetable and crumble it with a wooden spoon. Add in the basil, oregano, red pepper flakes and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 6-8 minutes or until the turkey is cooked through.
- Pour the marinara sauce, water and balsamic vinegar into the skillet and stir everything until combined. Bring to a simmer and then lower the heat to medium-low and let it simmer and reduce for another 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- While the meat mixture is cooking, brush the inside of the buns with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder and salt. Toast or broil until golden brown.
