Excellent seasoning for all recipes that call for italian seasoning, I like to use it for just about everything Italian or not! Store in an airtight container; it keeps for about 12 weeks. You can use fresh herbs you dry yourself, or store bought dried herbs - of course, the ones you grow and dry yourself are better!

2 tablespoons dried basil
2 tablespoons dried oregano
2 tablespoons dried rosemary
2 tablespoons dried marjoram
2 tablespoons dried cilantro
2 tablespoons dried thyme
2 tablespoons dried savory
2 tablespoons red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • In a food processor, combine basil, oregano, rosemary, marjoram, cilantro, thyme, savory and red pepper flakes. Blend for 1 minute, or until desired consistency is achieved.

3 tablespoons each dried savory, basil, marjoram, oregano and chives
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
2 tablespoons dried rosemary, crushed
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried sage leaves
1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months. Use to season meats or vegetables.

2 cups toasted rice cereal (Rice Chex)
2 cups toasted wheat cereal (Wheat Chex)
2 cups miniature pretzel twists
1 cup slivered almonds
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 250°.
  • Mix cereal, pretzels, and almonds in a large bowl; set aside.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan over med-low heat.
  • Add oil, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, pepper flakes, garlic salt, garlic powder, and onion powder; stir to combine.
  • Off heat, pour butter spice mixture over party mix, and toss to coat.
  • Transfer party mix to a baking sheet.
  • Bake mix 1-1 1/4 hours, stirring every 15 minutes.
  • Combine parmesan, basil, and rosemary in a bowl; sprinkle over party mix and toss together while mix is still warm.
  • Cool the mix on a baking sheet.
  • Store in an airtight container up to 1 week.

This aromatic bread can be served with dinner, or the dough can be used for pizza.

2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons white sugar
¼ cup olive oil
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ cup grated Romano cheese
6 cups bread flour

Steps:

  • Mix yeast, warm water, and white sugar together in a large bowl. Set aside for five minutes, or until mixture becomes foamy.
  • Stir olive oil, salt, herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, cheese, and 3 cups flour into the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in the next three cups of flour. Dough will be stiff.
  • Knead dough for 5 to 10 minutes, or until it is smooth and rubbery. Place in an oiled bowl, and turn to cover the surface of the dough with oil. Cover with a damp linen dish towel. Allow to rise for one hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Punch dough down to release all the air. Shape into two loaves. Place loaves on a greased cookie sheet, or into two greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise until doubled in size, about a 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 minutes. Remove loaves from pan(s), and let cool on wire racks for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

Their suggestions for use are to toss with pasta, veggies, or popcorn, sprinkle over salads, mix with butter and baste hot baked bread with it, or use it in flour for breading chicken.
