Irish Toast image

A great Sunday brunch item for the adult palate. Serve with Irish Coffee for the full effect. Your taste buds will want to dance the Irish jig!

1 (16 ounce) loaf French bread
4 large eggs
1 fluid ounce Irish whiskey
1 ½ fluid ounces Irish cream liqueur
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup butter
confectioners' sugar for dusting

Steps:

  • Cut the bread into 12 slices. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, Irish whiskey, Irish cream liqueur, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  • Heat some of the butter in a skillet over medium heat until the butter is hot and the foam has disappeared. Press each bread slice into the egg mixture, then fry in the hot skillet until nicely browned on both sides, about 2 minutes per side. Add more butter to skillet as needed. Brush each slice with butter, and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.

1/2 ounces Baileys Original Irish Cream
4 ounces whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
2 1/2 ounces Baileys Original Irish Cream
2 1/2 ounces whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 thick slices of sourdough bread
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

  • To make the whipped topping, place 1/2 ounces Baileys Irish Cream, 4 ounces whipping cream, and powdered sugar in a bowl. Whisk with a hand electric mixer at high speed until the mixture forms soft peaks. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
  • To make the custard, whisk together 2 1/2 ounces Baileys Original Irish Cream, 2 1/2 ounces whipping cream, vanilla extract, and eggs in a shallow dish.
  • Melt the butter in a frying pan at medium-low heat. While waiting for butter to melt, dip each side of the bread in the Baileys mixture until completely soaked, about 5-10 minutes per side, depending on thickness.
  • Fry the bread on medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  • Top the bread with a dollop of Baileys whipped cream. Enjoy!

Baileys French toast is full of Irish cream flavor and is topped with a decadent chocolate sauce. It's a fun, flavorful twist on weekend brunch.

For the French Toast:
4 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup Baileys Irish Cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4-6 thick slices challah bread
2 tablespoons butter
For the Chocolate Sauce:
4 ounces dark chocolate
2 tablespoons heavy cream
2 teaspoons Baileys Irish Cream
For Serving:
Whipped cream (optional)
Fresh strawberries (optional)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Whisk eggs in a shallow bowl until whites and yolks are completely incorporated.
  • Add in milk, sugar, Baileys, and vanilla extract to eggs and whisk again.
  • Soak each slice of bread in egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides. Soak for a minute or so, longer if bread is extra thick, and less time if you are using a thinner bread.
  • Heat a skillet with a tablespoon of butter on medium-low heat. Cook French toast for 3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and heated through.
  • Keep finished French toast warm in a 200 F oven. Cook remaining French toast using remaining butter. While the French toast is cooking, gather ingredients for chocolate sauce.
  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Add chocolate chips, heavy cream, and Baileys to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat on high for 30 seconds, stir, and then heat again in 15-second increments until the mixture is completely melted.
  • Drizzle French toast with chocolate sauce and top with whipped cream and strawberries if you wish.
