Instant Pot Oats (Fast, Creamy Oatmeal!) image

A quick and simple method for making PERFECT, creamy oats in the Instant Pot. Just 1 ingredient and 20 minutes required!

Provided by Minimalist Baker

Categories     Breakfast     Helpful How-to

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup rolled oats
2-2 ½ cups water
Fresh or frozen fruit
Nuts/seeds
Nut butter
Sweetener ((such as coconut sugar or maple syrup))
Cinnamon
Cacao nibs

Steps:

  • Add rolled oats and water and/or dairy-free milk to the Instant Pot and stir to prevent sticking (use the lesser amount of liquid for more textured oats and the greater amount for more porridgy). Pressure cook on high for 2 minutes (it will take about 8 minutes for the Instant Pot to pressurize before cooking begins).
  • Once the timer goes off, allow to naturally release for 10 minutes, then release any remaining pressure. Carefully remove lid once steam has fully escaped.
  • Enjoy immediately with toppings of choice. Store cooled leftovers in the refrigerator up to 5 days or in the freezer up to 1 month. Reheat on the stovetop, stirring frequently and adding more liquid, if needed, to thin.

Provided by Chef Kathy McDaniel

Categories     Breakfast     Snack

Time 21m

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 tablespoons butter (optional)
1 cup steel cut oats
3 cups water (or almond milk)
Pinch of salt

Steps:

  • Turn the instant pot/pressure cooker to "saute". Melt the butter and stir in the steel cut oats. Toast the oats, stirring frequently for a couple of minutes or until the butter has been absorbed and the oats are fragrant. Press the keep warm/cancel button on the instant pot.
  • Add the water or almond milk and the salt. Close the lid and lock the pot. Make sure your release valve is in the sealing position.
  • Cook on high pressure for 6 minutes. Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then do a quick release for the remaining pressure.
  • Open the lid and stir the oats as some of the liquid may have stayed on top. Serve with your favorite mix-ins and/or toppings.
