Steps:
- Combine the dry rub ingredients (brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper and cayenne) together in a small bowl. Apply rub evenly on both sides of the meat. Lightly pat so dry rub sticks to meat. Set aside.
- Pour beef broth into the Crockpot and add the Country Style Ribs. Pour the BBQ over the ribs to cover meat.
- Cover Crockpot and let cook on high 3-4 hours or low for 6-7 hours.
- About 10-15 minutes before you are ready to serve ribs preheat oven to broil (400 F ) and line a sheet pan with aluminum foil or a silicone baking mat.
- Open the Crockpot and transfer the ribs (carefully with tongs or a slotted spoon, the meat will be very tender) to the prepared sheet pan, discarding any cooking liquid.
- Brush the top side of ribs with BBQ sauce and broil for about 8- 10 minutes, until the ribs have become browned and BBQ sauce is caramelized.
- Combine the dry rub ingredients (brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper and cayenne) together in a small bowl. Apply rub evenly on both sides of the meat. Lightly pat so dry rub sticks to meat. Set aside.
- Pour beef broth into the Instant Pot and add1/4 cup BBQ sauce. Mix thoroughly. Add the Country Style Ribs to the bottom of the pot (trying not to overlap too much). Pour the remaining ¼ cup BBQ sauce over the ribs to cover meat.
- Secure/Lock the lid and set the Pressure release to sealing. Select the Manual setting and set the cooking time to 30 minutes.
- Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes. While the pressure is releasing, preheat oven to broil (400 F ) and line a sheet pan with aluminum foil or a silicone baking mat.
- After pressure has released for 10 minutes, move the Pressure Release to Venting/Quick Release and allow any remaining steam to be removed. Open the Instant Pot and transfer the ribs (carefully with tongs or a slotted spoon, the meat will be very tender) to the prepared sheet pan, discarding any cooking liquid.
- Brush the top side of the ribs with BBQ sauce and broil for about 5- 8 minutes, until the ribs have become browned and BBQ sauce is caramelized.

Steps:
- Add all ingredients to the Instant Pot and lightly toss with tongs so the meat has seasoning all over it.
- Lock the Lid, turn the knob to Sealing, and cook on the Meat/Stew setting for 35 minutes. If you do not have this setting, use the Manual or Pressure Cook button. For frozen, cook for 40 minutes with a 15 minute natural pressure release.
- After the 35 minute pressure cook, allow a 15 minute natural pressure release. If you don't have time for this, you don't have to do it, but it will help tenderize the meat.
- Release the rest of the pressure, if any, and remove the lid.
- Remove the ribs from the Instant Pot. Baste the ribs with more sauce and enjoy! You can also baste the ribs with more sauce and broil in the oven or air fryer for about 5 minutes to get a little crispier.

Steps:
- For the sauce, combine the pineapple with the juice, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, minced onion, dry mustard, ginger, and cayenne pepper in a medium bowl, stirring until well mixed. Taste and adjust seasoning. Set the sauce aside.
- Trim any excess fat from the ribs.
- Combine the onion powder, garlic powder, kosher salt and pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle the mixture on all sides of the ribs.
- Select Saute on the electric pressure cooker. When hot, add the vegetable oil to the pot. Lightly brown the seasoned ribs on all sides. Do this step in batches so you don't overcrowd the pot, placing the ribs on a plate after they brown. Add 1/4 cup of water and deglaze the cooking pot, scraping up any stuck-on browning bits.
- Return all the ribs to the pressure cooker. Pour the sauce over the ribs and give them a stir, making sure all of the ribs are coated with sauce.
- Lock the lid in place. Select High Pressure and 15 minutes cook time. When the cook time ends, turn off the pressure cooker and let the pressure release naturally for 8 minutes, then finish with a quick pressure release. When the valve drops, carefully remove the lid.
- With tongs, remove the ribs from the pressure cooker to a platter and cover with foil to keep them warm.
- In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water, whisking until the cornstarch dissolves. Select Sauté on the pressure cooker and bring the sauce to a boil. Whisk in the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
- Add the ribs, stir to cover them in the sauce, and simmer for 5-10 minutes to let the ribs absorb some of the sauce, stirring occasionally.
- Serve the ribs and sauce over rice, noodles, or potatoes.

Steps:
- Rinse the ribs and pat them dry. If your ribs still have the thin, shiny membrane on the back, remove it. (This is easy, don't worry!) Flip the ribs over, meat-side down. Wiggle a dull knife (such as a butter knife) between the membrane and the ribs to loosen it. With a paper towel, grip the membrane and pull it away, then discard.
- In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, salt, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne. Rub it all over the ribs, generously coating all of the sides.
- Place the trivet (or rack) in the bottom of a 6-quart or larger Instant Pot. Pour in the water, apple cider vinegar, and liquid smoke. Place the ribs inside the pot, standing them on the trivet on their side and wrapping the rack around the inside of the pot like a circle.
- Cover and seal the Instant Pot. For baby back ribs: Cook on high (manual) pressure for 23 minutes (if you are making multiple racks and your ribs are super meaty, increase to 25 minutes). Allow the pressure to release naturally for 5 minutes, then vent to release the remaining pressure. For spare ribs: Cook on high for 35 minutes. Allow the pressure to naturally release completely (about 15 minutes). You will know it is released when the pin drops.
- Towards the end of the ribs' cook time, place a rack in the upper third of your oven and set it to broil. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil. Transfer the cooked ribs to the foil, then brush liberally with barbecue sauce. Place under the broiler just until the sauce begins to caramelized, about 2 minutes. Do not walk away to make sure the ribs don't burn.

INSTANT POT® RIBS FROM FROZEN
These ribs start from a frozen state, so dinner can be made without planning ahead. Each rib portion should have 3 to 4 ribs. I use a spice called "Red Rocks Hickory Smoke Seasoning" from Savory Spice Shop®, but you may use what you have. With only 3 ingredients, it doesn't get much easier!

- Season ribs with salt and five spice seasoning. Make sure to coat all sides and rub it in. Turn on 6-quart (or larger) Instant Pot to sauté setting. Pour oil into the bottom of the insert.
- You'll need a small, round, heat-safe, pressure-safe insert that fits into your Instant Pot. I am using one of my springform inserts that I lined with nonstick aluminum foil so it doesn't leak. Pour in water and rice into insert and gently stir.
- Once all the ribs are browned, turn off the Instant Pot. Carefully remove any excess oil from the bottom of the insert. Then place all the ribs into the bottom of the pot. Pour half the bottle of Korean BBQ sauce over the top of the ribs.

- Make Ribs Marinade: Add 1 tsp (2.8g) garlic powder, 1 tsp (2.4g) onion powder, and 2 tbsp (30ml) regular soy sauce in Instant Pot. Add in ½ cup (125ml) apple cider vinegar and ¾ cup (188ml) cold water, then mix thoroughly.
- Marinate Ribs: Place 3.5 - 4 lb country style ribs into the apple cider vinegar marinade. Add ¼ tsp (2g) coarse kosher salt, ground black pepper, and 2 tbsp (25g) brown sugar or honey on top of the country style ribs. Marinate ribs for 30 minutes - 1 hour in the fridge.*Pro Tip: The apple cider vinegar helps tenderize the ribs. So, don’t marinate it for too long, or the ribs can come out a bit mushy.
- Pressure Cook Country Style Ribs: Close lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing position. Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 15 minutes + 10 minutes Natural Release. After natural releasing for 10 minutes, carefully turn the Venting Knob to Venting Position to release the remaining pressure. Open the lid carefully.
- Apply BBQ Sauce & Broil Ribs: Set the country style ribs on an oven tray, then generously apply ½ cup - 1 cup BBQ sauce all over the ribs.*Note: You can use an oven, Air Fryer Lid, or Instant Pot Duo Crisp's "Air Fry" function for this broiling step.Option 1 - Oven/Toaster Oven: Place the ribs on an oven tray under the "Broil" function (or the highest temperature setting) for a few minutes until the BBQ sauce is caramelized.Option 2 - Air Fryer Lid: Remove the apple vinegar liquid, then add 1 cup of cold water in the inner pot. Place the airfryer basket with the tray on the middle rack in Instant Pot. Layer the ribs on the airfryer tray, then place the air fryer lid on Instant Pot. Press "Air Fry" button, set temperature to 400°F and cooking time to 12 minutes. *Pro Tip: It will take roughly 8 - 11 minutes + preheat time. You can open the lid to check the progress.

- Optional - Trim Spare Ribs into St. Louis Style Ribs (see photos): With a sharp knife, remove the flap at the end of the spare ribs. Remove the skirt (strip of meat that runs diagonally on the backside). Separate the rib tips by making a horizontal cut. Try to fold the ribs lengthwise and you should find where the breastbone and cartilage are connected. *Pro Tip: Save all the meat you trimmed off for our next recipe.
- Marinate Spare Ribs: Mix 1 tsp (3.2g) garlic powder, 1 tsp (3.8g) onion powder, and 2 tbsp (30ml) apple cider vinegar together. Brush the marinade all over the spare ribs. Generously season the spare ribs with ground black pepper and salt. Marinate ribs for at least 30 minutes in the fridge. *Pro Tip: The optimal marinating time is 1 - 2 hours. This allows the vinegar to tenderize the meat and let the salt penetrates the meat just a bit.
- Pressure Cook Spare Ribs: Add 2 - 3 drops of liquid smoke to the Instant Pot (optional). Place 1 cup (250ml) of cold water and a steamer rack in Instant Pot. Place the marinated spare ribs on the rack. Close lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing position. Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 20 minutes (Tender with a bit of chew) to 25 minutes (Fall off the bone) + 15 minutes Natural Release. Release the remaining pressure, then open the lid.
- Apply Sauce & Broil in Oven/Air Fryer: Carefully set the spare ribs on an oven tray or chopping board, then generously apply BBQ sauce all over the ribs on all sides. *Note: You can use an oven, toaster oven, Instant Pot Duo Crisp or Air Fryer Lid for this step.*Pro Tip: If you're using the Duo Crisp lid or Air Fryer lid, you'll need to cut the spare ribs into halves, then finish them in 2 batches. *Pro Tip: It's best to broil the spare ribs before cutting it into serving size to retain more moisture.Option 1 - Oven/Toaster Oven: Place the BBQ Spare Ribs on an oven tray under the "Broil" function (or the highest temperature setting) for a few minutes until the BBQ sauce is caramelized.Option 2 - Air Fryer Lid: Place air fryer basket with tray on the middle rack in Instant Pot. Layer ribs on air fryer tray in Instant Pot. Place the Air Fryer Lid on Instant Pot. Press "Airfry" button, set Temperature to 400°F and Cooking Time to 15 minutes.
