1 teaspoon honey
2 fluid ounces boiling water
1 ½ fluid ounces whiskey
3 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 slice lemon
1 pinch ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • Pour the honey, boiling water, and whiskey into a mug. Spice it with the cloves and cinnamon, and put in the slice of lemon. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes so the flavors can mingle, then sprinkle with a pinch of nutmeg before serving.

1 cup water
2 tablespoons honey
6 tablespoons bourbon whiskey
1 wedge lemon
1 (2 inch) piece cinnamon stick
1 thin slice lemon

Steps:

  • Heat water in a glass measuring cup in the microwave for 2 minutes.
  • Place honey in a large mug. Add hot water and bourbon; stir until honey is dissolved. Squeeze lemon wedge into the mug and discard. Stir with cinnamon stick; leave in the mug. Drop the thin slice of lemon into the mug for garnish.

  • In a tumbler or china mug, mix together the gin, sugar, and bitters. Fill the glass with boiling water and garnish the drink with a slice of lemon.

50ml gin
50ml freshly squeezed orange juice
50ml lemon juice
½ lemon, sliced
2 cloves
2 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
1 cinnamon stick
2 juniper berries, lightly crushed
2 tsp runny honey

Steps:

  • Divide the gin between two small heatproof glasses or mugs.
  • Pour 100ml water into a saucepan with the rest of the ingredients, reserving one lemon slice. Heat gently over a low heat until simmering.
  • Strain the mixture into a jug, discard the fruit and spices, then pour the toddy over the gin in the glasses and stir gently to combine. Cut the reserved lemon slice in half, use these to garnish the drinks and serve warm.
