¼ cup brown sugar
3 ½ tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon hot cocoa mix
½ egg, beaten
3 tablespoons chocolate milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons chocolate chips
1 splash vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Mix flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and hot cocoa mix together in a large microwave-safe mug. Stir egg into flour mixture. Mix chocolate milk and vegetable oil into flour mixture until batter is smooth; stir in chocolate chips and vanilla extract.
  • Cook in the microwave on high until cake rises slightly and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean, about 3 minutes.

1/3 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons hot cocoa mix
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons butter (melted)
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup mini marshmallows
Optional: whipped cream
Optional: chocolate sauce
Optional: chocolate shavings

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In an average-sized mug, mix together the flour, hot cocoa mix, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, baking powder, and chocolate chips until completely combined.
  • In another mug of the same size, whisk together the melted butter and milk.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until they are completely combined and there are no lumps. Scrape the edges to make sure all of the batter is well mixed.
  • Place the mug in the microwave and cook for 1 minute and 30 seconds, or until the top is no longer runny and is just slightly sticky. If it's not done after the initial cooking time, cook in 30-second intervals until done. (Not all microwaves have the same power and cooking times might vary.)
  • Remove from the microwave and let cool for a minute or two. Top with the mini marshmallows and whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and chocolate shavings, if you like.

This hot cocoa mug cake comes together in minutes, and is the perfect, easy dessert for one!

1/4 cup all-purpose flour, spooned & leveled (30g)
2 Tbsp granulated sugar (25g)
1/4 cup hot cocoa mix (45g)
1/4 tsp baking powder (1g)
1/8 tsp salt (>1g)
1/4 cup hot water (60g)
2 Tbsp vegetable oil (28g)
1/4 tsp vanilla extract (1g)
1 Tbsp milk or dark chocolate chips (12g)

Steps:

  • Whisk together 1/4 cup flour, 2 Tbsp granulated sugar, 1/4 cup hot cocoa mix, 1/4 tsp baking powder, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl.
  • Add in 1/4 cup hot water, 2 Tbsp vegetable oil, and 1/4 tsp vanilla. Stir together with a whisk together until no clumps of flour remain.
  • Pour into a 12 oz or larger microwave-safe mug and sprinkle 1 Tbsp of chocolate chips over the top of the batter.
  • Heat for 60 seconds then check the doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs (melted chocolate is ok too if you hit a chocolate chip), your mug cake is ready! If the batter is still liquid in the center, heat for an additional 15 seconds, then retest with a toothpick. Repeat until your mug cake is cooked through.
  • Let the cake cool for a few minutes (or else you will burn your tongue - trust me!!), then top with your favorite toppings and enjoy warm! Ice cream, whipped cream, Nutella, caramel sauce, or chocolate sauce all work great as a topping.

2 tablespoons cocoa powder (unsweetened)
2-3 tablespoons light brown sugar
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 tablespoons milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
2 tablespoons chocolate chips (dark, milk or white chocolate chips)

Steps:

  • Place the flour, cocoa powder and brown sugar in a large mug (at least 310 ml capacity) and stir to combine.
  • Add the remaining ingredients (oil, milk, vanilla and chocolate chips) and stir until just combined.

Steps:

  • Pumpkin Spice Latte Mug Cake Melt the butter in your mug. Add the sugar, room temperature milk, pumpkin puree, and mix to combine. Add the baking powder, pumpkin spice, and flour and mix to combine. Scrape the bottom of the mug, clean the edges and place the mug in the center of your microwave. Cook on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Serve warm, top with whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin spice. Apple Cinnamon Mug Cake Melt the butter in your mug.
