I first had this last year when a saw it in a liquor store with my Sister.We had it with my Mom and Dad it was great relaxing. If you like honey and spices you'll like this! Meant to be sipped slowly!

Yield 45 small drinks (shot glass size)

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons of cold water
4 cups boiling water
1 small cinnamon stick
10 peppercorns
20 allspice berries
1/4 vanilla bean, sliced and scraped
1/4 nutmeg, grated
2 cloves
1 orange, rind of
1 1/3 cups honey
2 cups vodka

Steps:

  • Heat sugar in 2 Tbs of water until it dissolves, then stir in the boiling water.
  • Add vanilla bean, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon stick, peppercorns, and allspice berries.
  • Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Strain the caramel mixture and return to the pan.
  • Stir in honey and orange rind and heat, stirring, until the honey has completely dissolved.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and gradually stir vodka.
  • Serve hot or cold.

This is something I found in a book a few years ago, tried and loved. It gets a nice pepper taste over time. It is great for Bloody Marys or male bonding. I understand you can vary the alcohol and the pepper to whatever fits, like rum and habaneros, brandy and bird peppers. I always have a bottle in the freezer.

6 medium size cayenne chili peppers
1 (750 ml) bottle vodka

Steps:

  • Pour a shot or two of vodka out for yourself to compensate for the space the peppers will take.
  • Cut a slit into each pepper. Remove seeds and inner tendril. Try to keep the peppers looking pretty.
  • Insert each pepper into the bottle. Close bottle and store for at least 1 month if 80 proof, 3 months if 90 proof, the longer the better.

Spicy and sweet, this boozy hot cocoa is sure to warm you up during the holidays.

2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed orange juice
⅛ teaspoon cinnamon
8 ounces prepared hot chocolate
1 ounce chile liqueur
OR 1 ounce vodka + ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Cinnamon sticks
Orange slices (extra points if you have time to bake them)

Steps:

  • Add sugar, whipping cream, orange juice and ground cinnamon to a medium mixing bowl and whip with an electric mixer on medium until the cream forms stiff peaks.
  • Prepare a cup of your favorite hot cocoa mix, nice and hot. I recommend any mix that calls for milk or is Dutch processed. These tend to taste richer and have less added sugar.
  • Add the liqueur (or vodka and cayenne pepper) to the hot chocolate and stir well. Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream and garnish with cinnamon sticks and orange.
