Classic Macaroni Salad (With Relish) image

Classic macaroni salad is a creamy and delicious pasta salad side dish perfect for parties, picnics and pot lucks. Mayo and honey mustard combined with sweet and tangy relish and boiled eggs, makes every bite a perfect pairing for your outdoor grilling menu. Pretty much at every potluck, BBQ, and picnic, this traditional macaroni salad recipe includes a sweet mayo and honey mustard dressing and boiled eggs. While pasta itself may seem heavy, this light dressing that smothering the entire dish is light, not heavy, and goes well with cook out foods. There really are a ton of different classic macaroni salad recipes that you can serve but this is one of the best ever when it comes to that sweet relish taste. Plus classic macaroni salad can be made ahead the night before, making it simple to prep and take on the go.

8 oz. elbow macaroni pasta
4 hard boiled eggs
1/2 cup diced green pepper
1/2 cup diced celery
1/2 cup diced white onion
1/2 cup sweet relish
1/3 cup honey mustard
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions. Rise and drain. Let cool.
  • Dice 3 hard boiled eggs and add them to a mixing bowl with green pepper, celery, onion, relish and mustard. Mix well. Stir in pasta.
  • Add mayonnaise, milk and sugar and mix well. Refrigerate, covered, for four hours. Mix well before serving.
  • Top with remaining sliced hard boiled egg before serving.

1 (16 ounce) package elbow macaroni
6 hard-cooked eggs, diced
½ cup diced onion
½ cup diced celery
½ cup diced green bell pepper
2 cups mayonnaise
1 cup milk
½ cup sweet pickle relish
⅓ cup prepared honey mustard
½ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, 8 minutes. Drain and rinse macaroni under cold water until chilled. Transfer macaroni to a large salad bowl.
  • Toss pasta with hard-cooked eggs, onion, celery, and green bell pepper. Whisk mayonnaise, milk, pickle relish, and honey mustard in a bowl and pour dressing over the salad; mix well and season with sea salt and ground black pepper.

300g farfalle or other pasta shape
3 tbsp reduced-fat mayonnaise (use full-fat if you prefer)
1 heaped tsp wholegrain mustard
1 tsp clear honey
300g cooked chicken , torn into rough pieces
4 spring onions , thinly sliced (or use ½ red onion, thinly sliced)
small bunch basil , leaves roughly torn
4 tomatoes , quartered, then each chunk halved

Steps:

  • Boil the pasta, then cool under running water. Mix the mayo, mustard and honey in a large bowl and loosen with a little water to make a dressing the consistency of double cream. Add the pasta, chicken, onions, basil and tomatoes, season to taste, then gently mix together.

1 cup dry pasta (I like spiral)
1 cup cooked ham, diced (OR cooked chicken)
1/2 cup diced tomato
5 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons mustard (not the bright yellow stuff)
2 tablespoons wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Cook pasta in 2 quarts of salted boiling water until done to taste (for me, 8 minutes is right).
  • While pasta is cooking, add mustard, honey, vinegar, pepper, and garlic to the bottom of a serving dish.
  • Add hot drained cooked pasta, ham, and tomatoes to the dish and toss until coated by the dressing.
  • Top with cheddar cheese.

Steps:

  • Boil the pasta and cool under running water.
