Homemade Ginger Ale image

A fun way to make a family favorite. It tastes a little different than the commercial stuff, but it is much better. Above all things, have fun and feel free to experiment! Try adding fruit extract, if you like.

1 ½ tablespoons grated fresh ginger root
1 cup sugar
¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
1 lemon, juiced
water

Steps:

  • Into an empty 2-liter soda bottle, put the ginger root, sugar, yeast, and lemon juice. Fill the rest of the way with water. Screw the cap onto the bottle as tight as possible. Shake the bottle well, then leave at room temperature until the bottle is too hard to squeeze, about 2 days. Refrigerate. To serve, pour through a tea strainer.

Ginger adds a delicious and spicy kick to this soda, and the honey contributes a sweet taste that is richer than refined sugar.

1 gallon water
1 cup honey
2 lemons
2 pieces ginger, thumb-sized
1/2 teaspoon ale or 1/2 teaspoon champagne yeast

Steps:

  • Combine water, honey and hops in a stockpot. Add the juice from the two lemons and bring to a boil. Grate ginger and add to the pot. Simmer for 30 minutes. Allow to cool and then add the yeast. Let the soda stand at room temperature for 24 hours, then use a funnel and strainer to pour the soda into bottles. Leave 1 to 2 inches of.
  • empty space at the top of the bottle and attach the bottle caps. Write the date on the bottles and store them in a warm, draftfree place, ideally at room temperature, for an additional 24 hours. Then refrigerate. For best results, leave the bottles in the refrigerator an additional day or two before drinking. Makes 1 gallon.

1-1/2 cups ginger ale
1/4 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Cut ham in half; place in a 5-qt. slow cooker. Pour ginger ale over ham. Cover and cook on low until heated through, 4-5 hours. , Combine the honey, mustard, cloves and cinnamon; stir until smooth. Spread over ham; cook 30 minutes longer.

8 ounces of sparkling or carbonated water
1/2 lemon juiced or squeezed
1 tbsp honey

Steps:

  • Juicing Method: First you need to juice the ginger and lemon. Then, mix well well with the sparking or carbonated water, and honey.
  • Blending Method: Grate the ginger and squeeze 1/2 lemon. Then blend all the ingredients together and pour through a fine strainer.
  • Drink it up and Enjoy!
