1/4 pound bulk pork sausage
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 loaf (1 pound) frozen bread dough, thawed and halved
2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 can (8 ounces) pizza sauce
8 slices pepperoni
1 can (4 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. In a large skillet, cook sausage, green pepper and onion over medium heat until sausage is no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles; drain. Set aside., Roll half the dough into a 12-in. circle. Transfer to a greased 9-in. deep dish pie plate. Layer with half each of the following: mozzarella, Parmesan and pizza sauce. Top with the sausage mixture, pepperoni, mushrooms and 1/8 teaspoon oregano. , Roll out remaining dough to fit top of pie. Place over filling; seal edges. Layer with remaining pizza sauce, cheeses and oregano. Bake until golden brown, 18-22 minutes.

1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 slices white bread
1 tablespoon pizza sauce
4 tablespoons shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese, divided
4 slices pepperoni
1 tablespoon chopped green pepper, optional

Steps:

  • Spread butter over bread slices. Place one slice in a sandwich iron, buttered side down. Spread with pizza sauce; sprinkle with 2 tablespoons cheese, pepperoni and, if desired, green pepper. Top with the remaining cheese and bread slice, buttered side up. Close iron., Cook over a hot campfire until golden brown and cheese is melted, 3-6 minutes, turning occasionally.

Number Of Ingredients 19

CRUST
1 c hot water
1/2 c milk
11 g yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp basil, dried
4 c flour
1 Tbsp sugar
4 Tbsp vegetable oil (divided into 2 tbsp and 2 tbsp)
FILLING
16 oz manchego or mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 jar(s) spaghetti sauce (normally 32 oz)
6 oz black olives, drained
8 oz red bell pepper, canned, drained
2 c broccoli, steamed, with water patted out
50 g pepperoni, chicken, or meat of choice
2 Tbsp basil, dried
1 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • 1. In a large mixing bowl combine yeast, sugar, salt, and basil.
  • 2. Add hot water and milk. Let sit for a few minutes.
  • 3. Add 2 tbsp oil and combine. It will look soapy.
  • 4. Stir in the flour until a thick dough forms. You may need to add water or flour to adjust for the right texture.
  • 5. Knead the dough a few minutes on a floured surface until it is smooth.
  • 6. Roll out the dough until 1/4" thick (it should be about 20" in diameter)
  • 7. Use the remaining 2 tbsp oil to oil a springform pan. Lay the dough in the springform pan and up the edges. Fold it over a little along the top of the pan so that it will not fall in (see the picture)
  • 8. Cover the dough and pan with a damp towel and place in a warm place to rise for 1 1/2 hours.
  • 9. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 425 degrees Farenheit
  • 10. Add the toppings (all the sauce, then all the spices, then 8oz cheese, then the broccoli, olives, and red bell peppers, then the other 8oz cheese, then the meat)
  • 11. Bake for 45 minutes or until the crust along the upper edge is golden brown. You might want to check it at 30 minutes to make sure, as ovens vary.
  • 12. When you take it out, I suggest you check to see how liquidy it is and maybe pour out some of the liquid before removing from the springform pan. This will help when you cut the pizza.
  • 13. Let the pizza cool about 10 minutes, then remove from the springform pan. The crust should serve as a perfect barrier for all the toppings to stay in. It looks soooo amazing when you cut it! ENJOY!

BACON EGG AND CHEESE BREAKFAST SANDWICH PIE



Bacon Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich Pie image

These breakfast sandwiches are a great way to start your day.

2 slices bread
2 tbsp butter (spreadable)
2 pieces bacon
1 egg
1 oz cheddar cheese (shredded)
salt (to taste)
pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Heat pie irons for 1 to 2 minutes in fire. While the irons are heating butter 1 side of each slice of bread
  • Remove pie irons add slices of bacon and return to fire for about 1 minute. Cook until bacon is about 1/2 done.
  • Open pie iron and crack egg into iron with bacon. Cook in fire until egg is medium flipping once or twice while cooking.
  • Open pie iron and place 1 slice of bread on top of the bacon and egg with the butter side facing up. Then put the irons back together and flip over. Now add cheese and 2nd slice of bread again keeping the butter side up.
  • Cook sandwich until bread is golden brown about 2 - 4 minutes. Flip several times while cooking.
  • Remove from iron and enjoy.

  • Gather Your Ingredients. In addition to the mountain pie iron and a good fire with a lot of hot embers, you'll need: - Bread (best is square slices instead of rectangular ones)
  • Prep Your Iron. Mountain pie irons are made of cast iron and follow all the same rules. Try not to wash with soap, don't worry about chucking it in the middle of the fire, and a lil' love from Pam will make everything go smoothly.
  • Place the Bread. I recommend building up the entire sandwich on one side instead of a little on each and then trying to flip it over onto itself.
  • Add Your Toppings. Place your topping in any order you'd like - it'll all get sealed up in a delicious pocket of campfirey goodness no matter how you do it.
  • Close 'er Up! Take the other slice of bread and position it on top of your toppings and then close the iron together. Most new irons come with a clasp to keep it closed in the fire but somehow ours always seem to fall off.
  • Put It in the Fire. Place your closed mountain pie iron in the hottest part of the fire - ideally wedged in between some embers. Every fire is different and so there's no perfect timing guideline.
  • Enjoy Your Moutain Pie. The insides will be hot if you did it right, so be careful as you eat! If it's cool enough to handle, you can break off any burned bits and toss them back into the fire.
