GALLIANO
An old favorite, this recipe is based on vodka and flavored with anise, peppermint and ginger.

Steps:
- Place the cloves and ginger in a small jar and add enough vodka to cover. Seal and soak for 3 days. NO MORE! Strain the liquid, discarding the solids.
- Measure the sugar into a gallon container. Add the peppermint, vanilla and anise extracts as well as the food coloring. Pour in the vodka, the strained vodka and yellow food coloring. Cover tightly and shake until the sugar dissolves. Age for one week MINIMUM.

HARVEY WALLBANGER CAKE
The cake you get from this delightfully easy recipe tastes just like the cocktail, thanks to the use of Galliano in the batter and glaze.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 10 inch tube pan.
- Combine cake mix and pudding mix in a large bowl. Blend in eggs, vegetable oil, 4 ounces Galliano, 1 ounce vodka, and 4 ounces orange juice. Mix batter until smooth and thick and pour into prepared pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes then remove and place on cooling rack. Spoon glaze over cake while it is still warm.
- To Make Glaze: Combine the remaining 1 ounce Galliano, 1 ounce vodka, and 1ounce orange juice with the confectioner's sugar and blend until smooth. Spoon glaze over warm cake.

DIY GALLIANO LIQUER (COPYCAT)
From my copycat e-cookbook, I wanted to share this one because I remember learning about this elusive liquer in bartending school. I've had to cut sugar and alcohol as a result of my training lately, but I'll let the adventurous types have fun with this if you happen to want it for a party or have an acquired taste for it. :) The massive cook time is the fermentation time of about 10 days - 2 weeks.

Steps:
- Make a sugar syrup by combining the sugar and water in a heavy saucepan and bringing to a boil for about a minute, then immediately reduce the heat.
- Simmer for 1 hour or until thickened. Remove from heat and cool.
- Pour the sugar syrup into a sterilized quart size bottle. Add the anise extract, vanilla, and food coloring.
- Stir gently and add the vodka.
- Cover and let the mixture sit for 10-14 days before serving.

- 1. In a gallon GLASS bottle, not plastic, put 1 cup of the vodka and the cloves. Let this set for 10 days, Remove the cloves and add the sugar, and remaining 3 cups of vodka, vanilla, anise and peppermint. Stir well- add coloring. Let set for 2 weeks. Pour into bottles and enjoy! enjoy!
