HOMEMADE DOG FOOD WITH BEEF
My Samoyed, as he grew out of puppyhood, refused to eat kibble (and even canned food) and would go days without eating or eating very little until he lost weight. Frustrated, I did some research and started giving him this homemade dog food twice a day. He is back to a normal weight, and is very happy! Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Serve without bones; give separately as a treat as desired and use caution.

Steps:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.
- Place 6 cups water and brown rice into a stockpot. Add browned beef, bones, and rosemary; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low or low and let simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent burning, until rice is mushy, about 45 minutes. Add water if necessary to keep mixture a little thicker than a porridge-like consistency.
- Meanwhile, place carrots, spinach, and eggs with their shells into an electric blender. Blend until completely pureed and no eggshells are intact.
- Mix pumpkin and blended egg mixture in a bowl until combined. Remove meat mixture from heat and pour egg mixture into the pot to cook the eggs in hot contents, about 5 minutes. Let cool thoroughly before feeding to your dog, about 30 minutes.

DOG FOOD - BEEF
In 2010, I lost my feline companion to kidney failure due to tainted pet food. We had fought the kidney damage for years but lost the battle in September 2010. Since then I have been more proactive in making pet food for my four-legged companions. My two small mutts are some of the most finicky eaters I have met. I have tried the crockpot recipies with no success and have experimented with various other options to find something that is acceptable to my personal review board. Those recipes that fail their taste test go to a friend's two dogs that are far less finicky. This is one of the favourite recipes to date. When I can, I use free range beef free of antibiotics, organic vegetables and organic brown rice. Sometimes the budget doesn't afford such luxuries so I resort to normal human grade food and if you watch your grocery store flyers, you can get some good deals on meat and fresh produce!

Steps:
- Roast beef until medium-rare (about 170'F on a meat thermometer). Dice into smaller than bite size pieces (varies depending on the size of the dog).
- Pan fry liver until medium-rare or just a hint of pink is seen when you cut through the the center.
- Dice vegetables into 1/2 inch (1 cm) cubes and blanch for one minute.
- Place brown rice into a large pot of boiling water and cook for 25 minutes for most brown rice and 50 minutes for the organic brown rice (or according to package direction). I cook it like pasta, in lots of water and then strain to keep it fluffy and stop it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
- Mix all ingredients together.
- Place into containers and freeze.
- **NOTE: Vegetables can consist of most high-nutrient options such as fresh or frozen sweet potato, wax beans, peas, pumpkin, spinach, carrots, squash, zucchini, etc.
- ** Please be careful of those items toxic to dogs such as onions and garlic.

HOMEMADE DOG FOOD
With all of the scare regarding tainted dog food, I began making my 3 Jack Russells home made dog food. I found that it's quite comparable in cost, and they love it!
