HOMEMADE RANCH SEASONING MIX

Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix image

When I was a kid, ranch was one of my favorite flavors. Ranch dressing was always the magical thing you dipped all of the finger foods into.

Categories     main dish     salad     side dish

Time 5m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 c. Dry Buttermilk Powder (See Note)
1 tbsp. Dried Parsley
2 tsp. Dried Dill Weed
1 tsp. Freeze Dried Chives
1 tbsp. Garlic Powder
1 tbsp. Onion Powder
1 tsp. Sea Salt
1/2 tsp. Ground Black Pepper

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk all ingredients to combine. Transfer the mixture to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.Notes:1. When you purchase buttermilk powder at the store, it is found on the shelf, often in the baking section or near the powdered milk. 2. Storage: the brand of buttermilk powder I use (Saco) recommends refrigerating the powder once opened. In my experience, the powder stores for at least 2 months in the refrigerator, as long as you keep it in powder form. If you mix the powder with sour cream or other liquid products, use within 5 days.

HOMEMADE CUCUMBER RANCH DRESSING MIX

Homemade cucumber ranch dressing mix image

No preservatives and better flavor YUM!!

Provided by Candi Hummer

Categories     Other Sauces

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 9

3/4 c powdered milk or buttermilk
1/4 c potato flakes
2 tsp dill pickle
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp dried onion flakes
2 Tbsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp garlic salt
1 dehydrated large cucumber

Steps:

  • 1. Put all ingredients in food processor and process until blended and powdered. This comes out a bit thinner because of the lack of preservatives and fillers. I mix it with 3/4 cp mayo or sour cream to 1/4 cup milk and 3 tablespoons of the mix.
  • 2. Try more or less to your liking! NOTE- you may add 1/4 tspn to this dressing of xanthan gum to thicken it as the recipes is thin. Instead of using xanthan gum I just use a little more mayo and less milk! I dont care for using additives
  • 3. If you don't have dehydrated cucumber you can finely dice fresh cucumber (its better that way!)

WASABI CUCUMBER RANCH DRESSING

Wasabi Cucumber Ranch Dressing image

Zesty wasabi and cool cucumbers are the perfect pairing in this delicious homemade wasabi cucumber salad dressing. It's quick and easy too!

Provided by Jenn Laughlin - Peas and Crayons

Categories     Salad

Time 8m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1/4 cup chopped english cucumber
1 TBSP chopped red onion
1.5 TBSP wasabi powder ((see notes below))
1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
1/4 cup low-fat buttermilk
1/4 cup all-natural mayonnaise
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp dried parsley
1/4 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp dried dill (optional)

Steps:

  • Get Blending! After chopping your veggies, add all the above ingredients to a food processor or blender and pulse until smooth.
  • The dressing will thicken after spending a little time in the fridge and you can also add 1-2 tablespoons of greek yogurt to thicken immediately. I like my dressings a bit more runny since they cover more ground (aka veggies!) that way. Enjoy!

CUCUMBER RANCH SALAD

Cucumber Ranch Salad image

Crisp cucumbers with onion in ranch dressing. An easy side dish your family is sure to enjoy!

Provided by Michaela Kenkel

Categories     Salad

Time 2h5m

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 large cucumbers, washed, sliced in half then sliced in pieces. (I leave the skin on, but you can peel it off if you prefer)
1 small onion, I like the sweet onions, chopped (sometimes I use green onions)
1 cup Ranch dressing (more or less to taste)
Salt and cold water
Pepper

Steps:

  • Slice cucumbers and place in a bowl. Cover with cold water and give a good sprinkling of salt. Place in refrigerator for a couple of hours to soak. This will keep the cucumbers firm. Drain water. Add onions, and toss with ranch dressing. (You can use any ranch you want, I make it with fat free, and it makes this salad nice and light!) Give it a sprinkle of pepper and you're all done!!
