CRUNCHY TACO BURRITOS

You will be surprised with the crunch in these burritos made with Hamburger Helper®.

1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 1/4 cups water
1 cup milk
1 box Hamburger Helper™ crunchy taco
1/3 cup milk
12 Old El Paso™ flour tortillas for burritos (8 inch; from two 11-oz packages)
1/3 cup sliced green onions
1 large tomato, chopped

Steps:

  • In 10-inch skillet; cook beef over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in water, 1 cup milk and the sauce mix (from Hamburger Helper box) until blended. Heat to boiling. Stir in uncooked rice (from Hamburger Helper box).
  • Reduce heat; cover and simmer about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender.
  • Meanwhile, in small bowl, stir milk and topping mix (from Hamburger Helper box) 30 seconds; set aside. Slightly crush corn chips (from Hamburger Helper box); set aside.
  • Heat tortillas as directed on package. Spoon a generous 1/4 cup beef mixture down center of each warm tortilla; drizzle with cheese topping. Top with green onions, tomato and crushed corn chips. Fold bottom of each tortilla 1 inch over filling. Fold sides in, overlapping to enclose filling. Fold top over sides.

This Taco Hamburger Helper copycat recipe is a quick, easy, one-pan dinner made with just FIVE real, all-natural ingredients!

1 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons Homemade Taco Seasoning (OR 1 packet store-bought)
1 cup long-grain white rice (such as Jasmine)
3 cups low-sodium beef broth
1 cup grated sharp cheddar

Steps:

  • Set a large skillet, pan, pot, or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until no longer pink, breaking apart and stirring as the meat cooks. Drain the grease from the pot and sprinkle the cooked meat with taco seasoning.
  • Add the rice and beef broth and stir well to combine. Increase heat to high and bring to a boil, then stir and reduce to a simmer.
  • Simmer, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender and liquid is mostly absorbed. Stir in the grated cheese and serve immediately.

I just made this on a whim...why I have no idea but it was awesome and you can't tell a difference from the boxed stuff *yuck* It's soooo much cheaper to make it from scratch! I use Penzey's Taco seasoning but they advertise Old El Paso on the box so I assume that's what they use (could also use your own!). Also the noodles are an approximation since I kinda didn't pre-measure them I grabbed a couple of handfuls to fill up my skillet lol...same with the cheese, I had a half bag of "taco seasoned" shredded cheese left over and just threw it in there too. My husband didn't believe I made it from scratch! He was looking all over for the box haha

1 lb ground beef
1/2 onion, diced
4 tablespoons taco seasoning
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup water
1 cup milk
2 cups uncooked egg noodles

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef and cook with diced onions. After the beef is cooked drain and rinse.
  • Put back in the pan and add and mix well the seasoning, milk, water and cheese let it come to a slight boil.
  • Add the egg noodles, let the pan simmer for about 10 minutes until egg noodles are cooked and sauce has thickened.
  • Now Enjoy! I guarantee no one will be able to tell the difference :).

1 c mild salsa
1 bag(s) corn chips or tortilla chips

Steps:

  • 1. Cook ground beef as you would in skillet drain grease
  • 2. Add Taco seasoning and Salsa
  • 3. Cook Rice as to package directions
  • 4. * can combine taco mixture and Rice I cook it separately and keep it in containers to reheat in the microwave and mix together reheat add topping and chips or scoop the taco meat with chips like dip with no rice

1 lb ground beef
3/4 cup water
1 3/4 cup milk ( If you are using gluten free pasta it might need a little more milk/liquid)
8 ounces tomato sauce
1 package taco seasoning or homemade taco seasoning
2 cups uncooked penne or macaroni noodles, use gluten free pasta for gluten free version
1 cup sour cream ( optional, but makes it nice and creamy)
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
Salt to taste

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan brown the ground beef. Drain any fat from the meat.
  • Add the water, milk, tomato sauce, and taco seasoning to the meat and bring to a boil.
  • Add the pasta.
  • Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 17-20 minutes. Test at 17 minutes to see if the pasta is done. If pasta is not done, cook a few minutes longer.
  • When the pasta is tender and done, stir in shredded cheese and sour cream if using.
  • Let sit 5- 10 minutes before serving and it will thicken more.

1 recipe homemade taco seasoning or 1 taco seasoning packet, don't add water
1/2 cup salsa
1-3/4 cup chicken broth
1 cup long grain white rice (basmati or jasmine rice)
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Toppings: crushed tortilla chips, salsa, sliced avocado, chopped green onions

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef with shallot in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain then return to the skillet. Add taco seasoning, salsa, and chicken broth then bring to a boil. Add rice then place a lid on top and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until rice is tender then remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted. Place lid back on the skillet then let sit for 5 minutes before serving with toppings.
