HOMEMADE BLACKBERRY BBQ SAUCE
Blackberries are the star player in this simple to make sweet, tangy and smoky homemade bbq sauce!

Steps:
- Place the blackberries, onion, chipotle peppers and adobo sauce in a food processor. *
- Puree until smooth.
- Add the blackberry puree to a small saucepan along with the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Let the sauce cool, and then press thru a fine mesh sieve to remove the seeds. *
- Place in an airtight container and store in the fridge until you're ready to use. Will keep in the fridge for approximately one week or in the freezer for up to 6 months.

- Combine blackberries, ketchup, blackberry jelly, sugar, raspberry balsamic vinegar, corn syrup, tomato paste, limeade concentrate, cider vinegar, salt, bourbon, garlic powder, liquid smoke, ginger, ground chipotle pepper, red pepper flakes, black pepper, teriyaki sauce, and hot pepper sauce in a large pot and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer blackberry mixture for 10 minutes. Add whole habanero peppers and continue to simmer until sauce is thickened, about 20 minutes more. Remove and discard habanero peppers.
- Pour barbecue sauce into a blender no more than half full. Cover and hold lid down; pulse a few times before leaving on to blend. Puree in batches until smooth.

Sunset Magazine had a barbecue contest a few years back and this sauce was the grand prize winner. Recipe has been adapted to use the stove top and not the microwave.

- Put all ingredients in a blender and pulse until the berries are fully pureed.
- Pour into a a small sauce pan.
- Bring to a simmer then turn down the heat to low.
- Cook On low until the sauce is reduced by 1/3 be sure to stir occasionally.
- Serve with anything barbecued.

BLACKBERRY BBQ SAUCE 1998
This is came together when I was making blackberry jam. A total experiment that worked. I make my own jelly for this recipe. I used to use jam but I didnt like the seeds in my teeth! if you use jelly people wont know the secret ingredient. you may add a dash of hot sauce to fire it up if you enjoy heat. to some this sauce is sweet to others they love it. FRESH BLACKBERRY BBQ SAUCE
Sailing around the Gulf Islands I picked some fresh blackberries and wanted to incorporate them into dinner. The following sauce was simple to put together and was incredible on the pork ribs we had for dinner. Also goes great on chicken and lamb.

- Bring to a boil in a saucepan for 2-3 minutes.
- Cool and put in squeeze, strain if you want the seeds removed.
