I devised this recipe after searching the net and trying out recipes until I found a mix I liked. If I show up without this salad at BBQ's, there are usually some pretty unimpressed people around!

Ingredients

½ cup creamy salad dressing (such as Miracle Whip®)
½ cup olive oil
¼ cup red wine vinegar
2 large cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons spicy Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon chopped fresh basil
¼ teaspoon chopped fresh oregano
¼ teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
¼ teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons pickle juice, or more to taste

Steps:

Beat salad dressing, olive oil, vinegar, garlic, Dijon mustard, sugar, pepper, salt, basil, oregano, thyme, and parsley together in a bowl with a whisk until smooth; add pickle juice and stir to thin the dressing to your desired consistency.

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise
1 small onion, cut into wedges
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/3 cup vegetable oil
Salad greens and vegetables of your choice
Crumbled blue cheese

Steps:

Place the first seven ingredients in a blender; cover and process until smooth. While processing, gradually add oil in a steady stream. In a salad bowl, combine greens and vegetables; sprinkle with blue cheese. Serve with dressing. Refrigerate any leftover dressing.
