Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Spray bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
- In large bowl, stir base ingredients until soft dough forms. Press half of dough in bottom of pan.
- Spread pie filling over dough. Drop remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over filling.
- Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 10 minutes.
- In small bowl, stir glaze ingredients until smooth. If necessary, add additional milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle glaze over warm bars. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store covered at room temperature.

- In a large bowl and using electric mixer beat eggs with 1c icing sugar until light and fluffy.
- Stir in 1/4c melted butter.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder and salt and stir into egg mixture.
- Stir in walnuts, dates and candied fruit.
- Spread in greased 8" square cake pan.
- Bake in centre of 350 oven for 30-35 minutes or until top is golden and firm to the touch.
- Let cool in pan on rack.
- To make the icing:In bowl beat 1/4c butter until light.
- Gradually add 1c icing sugar until fluffy.
- Spread over top of cooled bars.

- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, mix flour and 1/3 cup brown sugar; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press into a lightly greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake 15 minutes. , In a large bowl, whisk together egg and salt; stir in remaining brown sugar. Stir in nuts, cherries and chocolate chips. Spoon evenly over crust., Bake until topping is set, 20-25 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

No time to make a fruitcake for the holidays? This quick bar cookie will satisfy your cravings. This recipe combines the best of several recipes I've tried over the years.

Steps:
- Beat eggs with a mixer until they are golden yellow and doubled in volume - 2 or 3 minutes.
- Add in 1 cup sifted powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
- Take 2 tablespoons of flour mixture and stir in with candied fruit, nuts and currants, to keep fruit from clumping in the batter.
- Add the rest of the flour mix to the eggs and sugar.
- Fold fruit and nuts into batter.
- Spoon batter into a well greased 11" by 7" pan.
- Some years I use parchment paper instead.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Mix together rum and second cup of powdered sugar to make a glaze.
- Spread the icing onto the bars about 5 minutes after they've come out of the oven.
- Let bars cool and cut into bars.
