HILLBILLY COOKIES image

This recipe was given to me by my late husbands aunt Gladys 30 years ago. She said these were made during the depression I always made these to take to club meetings or pot luck dinners.

Number Of Ingredients 5

Ingredients

1 cup(s) sugar
1 cup(s) raisins
1 cup(s) water
1 stick(s) margarine
1 teaspoon(s) cinnamon

Steps:

Boil sugar, raisins, water, margarine and cinnamon together for one minute. Add to the above mixture 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda. Mix well by hand then spread on jelly roll pan, bake at 350 for 20 minutes. When cool sprinkle with powdered sugar or vanilla frosting.
