I have a friend who absolutely LOVES anything chocolate. I make this for him fairly often. He doesn't care for the nuts in his but I do, so I make his special. Here is an internet picture of the final result.

Ingredients

1 - (18.25 oz) box devil's food cake mix
1 bottle(s) hershey's chocolate syrup
3/4 cup(s) chopped walnuts or chopped pecans
1 can(s) can chocolate frosting (milk chocolate or dark chocolate)

Steps:

Prepare the cake according to directions on the box except add half of the chopped nuts into the batter before baking.
Remove the cake from the oven and let cool.
Using the end of a wooden spoon, poke several holes in the cake.
Slowly pour chocolate syrup into each hole. As it soakes up the syrup, go back and pour more syrup. You want it to be moist but not mushy.
Cover the cake with the chocolate frosting and sprinkle the remaining nuts.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line an 8-inch pan with parchment, and set aside. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, salt and sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk together all remaining ingredients (except the syrup) until evenly combined. Pour wet into dry, stir until just combined, and pour into the prepared pan.
Bake on the oven center rack for 25 minutes or until the cake has risen and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean. Let cool completely.
Poke holes into the cooled cake with a toothpick or fork. Pour the syrup evenly on top, and let it seep into the cake. As mentioned earlier, if you can wait, I highly recommend not tasting until the next day… this cake is so much richer and sweeter after sitting for a day!
