1-1/2 pound fresh green beans
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon salt, optional
1-1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon paprika

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, cover beans with water; Bring to a boil. Cook, uncovered for 8-10 minutes or until crisp-tender. Meanwhile, in a skillet, saute onion in butter until tender. Add the remaining ingredients. Drain beans; stir in onion mixture.

3 large shallots, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/4 cup thinly sliced basil leaves
lemon wedge, for garnish

Steps:

  • Bring 1/2" of water to boil in a 10-inch skillet with lid.
  • Add green beans; cover and simmer over medium-low heat until tender-crisp, about 8 minutes.
  • Drain in colander.
  • Heat oil in skillet over medium heat.
  • Add shallots and sugar.
