These rich Heath cookie bars are frosted with chocolate and studded with crunchy Heath bar toffee bits inside and out!

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large egg yolks
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 8-oz. pkg. Heath milk chocolate toffee bits (divided)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, vanilla and egg yolks on low speed until smooth.
  • Add the flour, salt and 1 cup Heath toffee bits and stir until just combined. The mixture will be thick and crumbly.
  • Empty mixture into the prepared baking dish and press it out evenly using wet fingers. Bake for 25 minutes, until golden.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let sit for 5 minutes, then spread evenly using an offset spatula. Sprinkle with the remaining Heath toffee bits.
  • Cool completely then refrigerate for 20 minutes to allow the chocolate to set up. Lift from the pan using the parchment paper onto a cutting board, then cut into squares and serve.

This was my favorite treat as a kid, and now my family enjoys it. It's a great dessert for Sunday with the family.

1 (20 ounce) package brownie mix
1 pkg. (4 serving size) instant chocolate pudding mix
8 (1.4 ounce) bars chocolate-covered English toffee bars, divided
2 (8 ounce) containers frozen whipped topping, thawed

Steps:

  • Prepare brownies according to the package directions, and let cool. Crumble the surface of the brownies with a fork.
  • Prepare the chocolate pudding mix according to the package directions, and immediately pour over the brownies. Allow the pudding to set.
  • Using the handle of a wooden spoon or table knife, crush the toffee bars, still in their wrappers, and sprinkle 7 crushed toffee bars over the pudding.
  • Spread the whipped topping over the crushed toffee bars with a spatula, and sprinkle 1 crushed toffee bar over the top for decoration.

3/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
3 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 2/3 cups sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup pecan pieces, toasted, cooled (about 4 ounces)
5 (1 1/2 ounce) heath english toffee-flavored candy bars, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
  • Stir butter and chocolate in a heavy small saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth. Cool to lukewarm.
  • Whisk flour, salt and baking soda in a bowl to blend.
  • Using electric mixer, beat sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl until thick and billowy, about 3 minutes. Beat in chocolate mixture, then flour miture. Fold in pecans. Transfer to pan.
  • Bake until puffed and a tester inserted into center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached, about 28 minutes.
  • Sprinkle brownies with chopped toffee bars. Cool in pan on rack. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover; store at room temperature.) Cut into squares.

3 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 2/3 cups sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup walnut pieces (about 4 ounces), toasted, cooled
5 1.4-ounce Heath English toffee candy bars, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour 13x9x2-inch metal baking pan. Stir butter and chocolate in heavy small saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth. Cool to lukewarm.
  • Whisk flour, salt, and baking soda in small bowl to blend. Using electric mixer, beat sugar, eggs, and vanilla in large bowl until thick and billowy, about 3 minutes. Beat in chocolate mixture, then flour mixture. Fold in walnuts. Transfer to pan.

  • To make the ganache, place the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring just to a boil and then add in the chocolate chips. Do not stir right away. Wait 2-3 minutes and then stir the chip mixture until it is smooth. Spread the ganache mixture over thee cooled brownies. Sprinkle the remainder of the Heath Toffee Bits over the ganache. Let the the ganache cool and then cut the brownies into 12 squares.
