Happy Meatball Day! Skip the Italian Take-Out With the Best Meatball Recipe Anyone Can Pull Off at Home image

Nothing brings together a spaghetti dish like the best meatball recipe. Join Chef Jon Ashton as he shares his secrets to make easy, homemade meatballs from scratch with minimal cleanup.

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 lb. Italian sausage
2 large eggs
1 yellow onion, diced and partially cooked
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 cup ricotta cheese
½ cup breadcrumbs
2 lbs. ground chuck
½ cup basil
1 Tbsp oregano
1 tsp chili flakes
Black pepper
Tomato sauce
Parsley

Steps:

  • Combine Italian sausage, eggs, yellow onion, garlic, parmesan, ricotta, breadcrumbs in a large bowl. Add in ground chuck. Gently combine with hands, not overworking. Test small piece in microwave for 30 seconds to taste. Add seasoning as needed. Add in basil, oregano, chili flakes and pepper. Combine with hands. Line baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking oil. Preheat oven to 475 degrees F. Use ice cream scooper to size or shape with hand. Place meatballs on baking sheet, leaving space in between. Spray top with cooking spray and roast until internal temperature is 155 degrees F. Place cooked meatballs in pot of tomato sauce. Simmer for 5-10 minutes. Add parsley and Parmesan cheese.
