Time 40m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 pound ground beef
¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
½ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
½ teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 eggs
1 ½ cups bread crumbs
¼ cup vegetable oil for frying
1 small onion, sliced into rings

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Whisk eggs together in a small bowl. Place bread crumbs on a plate. In a medium bowl, mix together the ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form into 4 patties. Dip burger patties into egg, then press into bread crumbs to coat.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the breaded hamburgers on each side, about 2 minutes per side.
  • Place onion rings in the bottom of a baking dish or casserole dish. Pour in just enough water to cover the bottom, but not cover the onion. Carefully place burgers on top of the onions in the baking dish without touching the water.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until burgers are well done.

BEST EGG BURGER RECIPE WITH CARAMELIZED ONIONS

Best Egg Burger Recipe with Caramelized Onions image

This is the Best Egg Burger Recipe you will ever try! Topped with caramelized onions, a golden runny egg, and Gruyere cheese, it's the perfect blend of smoky and sweet.

Provided by Isabel Laessig

Categories     Hamburger Recipes

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound ground beef chuck
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
8 slices smoked Gruyere cheese
1 serving of caramelized onions
4 poached eggs - or eggs cooked to your liking (such as a fried egg)
4 burger buns

Steps:

  • Preheat your grill or a skillet on the stove to medium-high heat. Season 1 pound ground beef chuck with ½ teaspoon each of salt and pepper. Mix well and shape the beef into 4 burger patties.
  • Grill the patties or cook on the stove until you reach a nice sear, about 3-5 minutes. If the burgers stick when you try to flip them, they aren't ready! Let them sear another 30 seconds to a minute until they come up easily.
  • Flip the burgers and sear the other side about 3-5 minutes, or until the burgers are done to your liking. After flipping, top each burger with 2 slices or more of smoked Gruyere cheese. Cook until it melts. We tend to add the cheese closer to the final 2 minutes of cooking time.
  • Remove the burgers from the heat and let them rest 5-10 minutes. While they're resting, cook 4 eggs according to how you like them (ex. fried or poached). Prepare your caramelized onions.
  • Toast 4 burger buns. After cooking the eggs, place a burger on each bun. Top with a spoonful of caramelized onions and an egg. Place the top buns back on the burgers, but be gentle so the egg doesn't break. Serve with plenty of napkins and enjoy!

GRUYERE AND EGG BURGERS

Categories     Dinner     Lunch

Time 50m

Yield 8 servings.

Number Of Ingredients 20

1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
CHEESEBURGERS:
2 pounds lean ground beef (90% lean)
1 tablespoon stone-ground mustard
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
8 slices Gruyere or aged Swiss cheese
8 mini pretzel buns, split
FRIED EGGS:
2 tablespoons butter
8 large eggs
TOPPINGS:
Fresh arugula
2 medium tomatoes, sliced
Additional stone-ground mustard, optional

Steps:

  • Whisk mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice and lemon zest until blended. Refrigerate., For burgers, combine the next six ingredients, mixing lightly but thoroughly (do not overmix). Shape into eight patties. Grill, covered, over medium direct heat until a thermometer reads 160°, 5-7 minutes on each side. Top with cheese; grill, covered, until cheese is melted, 1-2 minutes longer. Place burgers on bun bottoms. Keep warm., Melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat in each of two large skillets (on grill or stovetop). Break eggs, one at a time, into a custard cup or saucer, then gently slide into pans. Immediately reduce heat to low. To prepare eggs sunny-side up, cover pan and cook until yolks thicken but are not hard. To make basted eggs, spoon butter in pan over eggs while cooking. For over-easy, carefully turn eggs to cook both sides but do not cover pan., To serve, spread mayonnaise mixture over bun tops. Add arugula, tomatoes and, if desired, additional mustard to burgers. Top with fried eggs. Replace bun tops.

Categories     Meat and Poultry Recipes     Pork

Time 35m

Yield 3

Number Of Ingredients 11

6 slices bacon
1 pound ground chuck (80% lean, 20% fat)
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
3 large eggs
3 roll (blank)s hamburger buns, split
3 slices American cheese

Steps:

  • Cook bacon on the flat top grill over medium heat until browned and crispy, about 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, mix ground chuck, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper together with your hands. Divide into 3 portions and roll into balls.
  • Remove bacon from the flat top and increase heat to medium-high.
  • Pour flour onto a plate and roll burgers around in the flour until well coated. Pour 1 tablespoon oil onto the hot grill.
  • Place 1 of the burgers onto the oiled flat top and press down firmly until it forms a patty, about 1/2-inch thick; repeat for other 2 burgers. Cook until browned, 4 to 5 minutes. Use a firm, metal spatula to flip patties in order to scrape up all of the crust. Continue to cook until browned and no longer pink, 4 to 5 minutes more. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of the burgers should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
  • Reduce heat to medium and add remaining oil. Crack eggs onto the grill. Cook until outer edges become opaque, about 1 minute. Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook until whites are completely set, about 4 minutes.
  • Assemble burgers in the buns with American cheese, bacon, and egg.

THE CLASSIC BURGER

The Classic Burger image

Sink your teeth into a delicious restaurant-style, hamburger recipe made from lean beef. Skip the prepackaged patties and take the extra time to craft up your own, and that little extra effort will be worth it. To make cheeseburgers, about 1 minute before burgers are done, top with sliced cheese; continue cooking until cheese begins to melt. Notes: If you want absolute bacteria safety, you need to cook your burgers to 160°. This recipe will keep them moist.

Provided by Linda Lau Anusasananan

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 pound ground lean (7% fat) beef
1 large egg
1/2 cup minced onion
1/4 cup fine dried bread crumbs
1 tablespoon Worcestershire
1 or 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
About 1/2 teaspoon salt
About 1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 hamburger buns (4 in. wide), split
About 1/4 cup mayonnaise
About 1/4 cup ketchup
4 iceberg lettuce leaves, rinsed and crisped
1 firm-ripe tomato, cored and thinly sliced
4 thin slices red onion

Steps:

  • In a bowl, mix ground beef, egg, onion, bread crumbs, Worcestershire, garlic, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper until well blended. Divide mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about 4 inches wide.
  • Lay burgers on an oiled barbecue grill over a solid bed of hot coals or high heat on a gas grill (you can hold your hand at grill level only 2 to 3 seconds); close lid on gas grill. Cook burgers, turning once, until browned on both sides and no longer pink inside (cut to test), 7 to 8 minutes total. Remove from grill.
  • Lay buns, cut side down, on grill and cook until lightly toasted, 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Spread mayonnaise and ketchup on bun bottoms. Add lettuce, tomato, burger, onion, and salt and pepper to taste. Set bun tops in place.

  • Combine all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Refrigerate until ready to use. Alternatively, if you want to use the sauce in a squeeze bottle, I recommend blending the ingredients so the relish doesn’t get stuck.
  • Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium heat and melt in 1/2 a tablespoon of butter. Place the buns in cut side down until golden brown, this will only take a minute so keep an eye on them.
  • Using your hands, form the ground beef into a ball and then gently flatten it into a patty that is about a 1/4” thick. Try to make it slightly larger than your bun as the patty will shrink slightly when it cooks. The exact thickness doesn’t matter but if you go any thicker or thinner, adjust your cooking time accordingly. Generously season one side with salt and pepper.
  • Melt the rest of the butter into the skillet and place the burger in seasoned side down (to one side so there is room for the egg). Season the other side with salt and pepper. I like my burgers medium rare and it takes about 1 and a half minutes per side to get there. Feel free to leave it on longer if you like your burger more done.

  • Heat a gas grill to high heat. When it reaches 350 - 400 degrees F place burgers on grill grate. Grill the first side about 3 minutes or until golden brown and slightly charred. Flip over burgers. Cook an additional 6 minutes or until it reaches desired doneness. When you have one minute left of grilling time place a slice of cheese on top of burger and let it melt.
  • While burgers are cooking you will want to fry your eggs either on a skillet on the stove or on the grill. Heat a pan with 2 Tbsp butter over medium high heat. When the butter foams, break the eggs into the pan, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Reduce the heat to low and season the eggs with salt and pepper. Cover the pan and cook until the whites are set and the yolks are just beginning to firm around the edge, about 5 minutes.
  • While burgers are cooking butter the insides of the buns with 2 Tbsp butter. Place buns, butter side down, on grill grates to toast. Remove from grill when they are lightly toasted.
