1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef (90% lean)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) beef broth
1 cup water
4 celery ribs, thinly sliced
4 large carrots, halved and thinly sliced
1/2 cup quick-cooking barley
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup minced fresh parsley

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the tomatoes, broth and water. Bring to a boil., Add celery, carrots, barley, thyme and pepper. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, for 10-12 minutes or until vegetables and barley are tender., Remove from heat; stir in parsley. Let stand 5 minutes.

1 cup chopped celery

6 cubes beef bouillon
5 cups water
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce

1 teaspoon dried basil

Steps:

  • In a medium skillet, brown hamburger over medium heat. Drain off fat.
  • Combine beef, carrots, celery, onions, bouillon, water, tomato sauce, chopped tomatoes, salt, corn, basil, and ketchup in a large stock pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer for at least 1 1/2 hours.

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef and drain.
  • Add cream of mushroom soup, salt, pepper, and milk and heat through.
  • Serve over rice.
  • Although I find as long as I salt and pepper it well enough, it has plenty of flavor for my taste, if you feel it isn't flavorful enough, many reviewers have made some excellent suggestions to kick it up. :).

1 pound lean ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 medium onion, finely diced
1 1/2 cups finely diced celery
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 14.5-oz can beef broth
1 10.5-oz can cream of celery soup
1 cup long-grain white rice

Steps:

  • Add ground beef, salt, pepper and garlic to a large skillet then brown and crumble over medium-high heat. When beef is about half cooked, add onion, celery and red pepper flakes then continue cooking until beef is cooked through and veggies are starting to become translucent. Do not drain. Spray a medium-sized casserole dish (1.5 quart) with cooking spray or rub with butter. In a separate bowl, whisk together broth and soup until smooth. Pour soup mixture and rice into skillet and stir until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated. Pour into prepared casserole dish, cover tightly with aluminum foil then bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until rice is tender. Remove casserole from oven and let rest, covered, for 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Notes: You can use other creamed soup flavors such as cream of onion or cream of mushroom. Use uncooked rice. I don't know if this can be made with Minute rice or brown rice because I've never cooked either type of rice. This recipe doubles easily in a 3-qt 13x9 dish. Cook 15-30 minutes longer or until rice is tender. You must cover the dish TIGHTLY with foil to ensure the moisture stays inside to cook the rice through. I don't know how this could be converted to a slow cooker recipe.

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Brown the ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium-high heat; drain off any excess grease. Combine the beef and onions with the onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, water, and rice and mix well. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and bake, covered, at 350 degrees F for 1 hour or until the rice is cooked. Uncover the baking dish and sprinkle the top with the cheese. Put the baking dish back in oven until the cheese is melted. Serve hot.

1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 can Chicken Noodle Soup
4 cups Rice (cooked)
1 tsp Salt

10-12 Regular Potato Chips (crushed)

Steps:

  • Sauté chopped onion with olive oil in a deep pan skillet for 2-3 minutes over medium heat.
  • Add ground beef and cook until meat is browned. Remove pan from heat and drain.
  • Add cream of mushroom soup, chicken noodle soup, salt and pepper into the pan. Stir until combined.
  • Add cooked rice and stir well.
  • Pour rice mixture into a prepared 2 quart casserole dish.
  • Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • Carefully remove from oven and top with crushed potato chips.
  • Bake uncovered another 5 minutes.

2 tablespoons melted butter

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  • Cook beef and onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat until meat is no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes). Drain.
  • In a separate bowl, stir together condensed soups, milk, salt, chives, pepper and garlic powder.

1 cup onion (diced)
1 tablespoon minced garlic
7 cups vegetable broth
1- 28 ounces can crushed or diced tomatoes

1 teaspoon brown sugar (if you don't have a sweet ketchup)
3/4 cup uncooked white rice
salt and pepper as desired

Steps:

  • In a medium frying pan, brown the ground beef, onion and garlic until ground beef is no longer pink. Drain the grease (I also like to rinse it with hot water to remove most of the grease) and place in a large crockpot. Alternatively, you can fry these in the bottom of your InstantPot and drain the grease from it.
  • Add the broth, tomatoes, Worcestershire, ketchup,brown sugar (if wanted) and Italian seasoning. Add more sugar and Worcestershire to taste if needed. Place the lid on the crockpot and cook on low for 8-10 hours. Alternatively, you can cook this on the stovetop. Simply add the rice and simmer until the rice is cooked.
  • For the crockpot method, thirty minutes to an hour before serving, add in the rice and cook until tender.
  • Serve and enjoy!

  • Peel and dice potatoes into bite sized pieces. Dice a few pieces very small - these will break down and thicken the sauce later. I just cut the end pieces smaller.
