Easy Tasty Ham Steaks with Maple Glaze For 2 image

This tastes like mom's Easter ham and has only a handful of ingredients! It's designed for 2, but you could alter it for a bigger ham.

2 slices ham steak
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 ½ teaspoons distilled white vinegar
15 whole cloves

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Arrange ham steaks in a baking dish.
  • Whisk brown sugar, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, and vinegar in a bowl; pour over ham steaks. Sprinkle cloves over ham steaks.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until browned on both sides, about 45 minutes, turning every 15 minutes. Discard cloves before serving.

This is a killer way to use up some of that left over ham you've got. Impress your family with this easy and yummy recipe. An authentic taste of Burgundy direct to your kitchen. It is a good party recipe, and can easily be increased to make a whole platter of them.

8 slices ham (about 1 pound)
2 shallots
1 1/2 cups dry white wine
4 ounces creme fraiche (don't use sour cream)
1/2 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese (or jack)
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°.
  • Sauté the shallots until they are just translucent.
  • Add the white wine, cream, tomato paste, salt and pepper, stir well, and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Roll the slices of ham into cigar shapes and place in a casserole, seam side down.
  • Add the sauce, and sprinkle the cheese over all, and put in the oven for 5 minutes, or until the ham is heated and the cheese melted.
  • Serve with rice.

6 (1/2-inch-thick) ham steaks
1/2 cup clarified butter
3 tablespoons warmed Cognac
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 teaspoons curry powder
1 tablespoon minced parsley

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown ham steaks on both sides in clarified butter. Add Cognac, ignite it, and shake the pan until the flames go out. Stir in cream and curry powder and simmer the sauce over moderate heat for 5 minutes.
  • Transfer ham to a heated serving platter and reduce the sauce until it is slightly thickened. Pour the sauce over the ham and sprinkle it with minced parsley.
