CRISPY GRILLED CHICKEN WINGS

Crispy Grilled Chicken Wings image

The crispiest grilled chicken wings you'll ever make are cooked at 450 F for 25-30 minutes on a grill (gas, charcoal, or Traeger smoker, with instructions for each!) and only require chicken wings, olive oil, kosher salt, and pepper. With this grilled chicken wing recipe, you'll never fry them again!

Provided by Ari Laing

Categories     Dinner

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 lbs chicken wings
4 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp kosher salt
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
2 Tbsp Traeger fin and feather seasoning blend (optional)
Blue cheese, ranch, buffalo sauce (for serving, optional)

Steps:

  • Season the wings. Place chicken wings in a large mixing bowl. Toss wings with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then set aside. If using a spice seasoning or dry rub, add olive oil to wings, but omit salt and pepper.
  • Cook the wings. Preheat grill to 450 F. Place wings directly on grill and cook for 20-30 minutes (this really depends on the size/thickness of the wings) over direct heat, turning every ~5-10 minutes or so, until an internal temperature of 165F is reached. Serve immediately, with sauces, if using.

GRILLED CHICKEN WINGS WITH SEASONED BUFFALO SAUCE

Grilled Chicken Wings with Seasoned Buffalo Sauce image

I love the flavor and ease of cooking chicken wings on the grill. They are truly no fuss, no muss and finger lickin' good!

Provided by Jennifer Segal

Categories     Appetizers

Time 25m

Yield 4-6 as an appetizer

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 pounds chicken wings (if whole, cut into sections; discard the wing tips or save for stock)
1½ teaspoons kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Vegetable oil, for grill
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 clove garlic, minced
¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons Frank's Red Hot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce (or similar brand)
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon chili powder
¾ teaspoon sugar

Steps:

  • Heat the grill to medium-high. Season the wings with salt and pepper.
  • Using grill tongs, dip a wad of paper towels in oil, then carefully rub the grill grate until glossy and coated. Grill the wings, covered, flipping occasionally, until they are golden brown, crispy and completely cooked through, about 20 minutes. Keep a close eye on the grill: if there are flare-ups or the wings begin to burn, move the wings to a cooler part of the grill or reduce the heat. You don't want grill marks on the wings; just a nice and even golden-brown color.
  • While the wings are cooking, make the sauce. Combine the butter and garlic in a microwave-safe bowl. Cook for about one minute in the microwave until the butter is melted. Stir in the hot sauce, salt, onion powder, chili powder and sugar. Set aside.
  • Dip the cooked wings in the sauce and serve immediately. Alternatively, serve the wings plain with the sauce on the side.

GRILL MASTER CHICKEN WINGS

Grill Master Chicken Wings image

These wings are always a hit! I grill them up before a party and keep them hot in a low oven. I always use Frank's RedHot® sauce. It's got lots of flavor and isn't too spicy.

Provided by PartyFil-Grillmaster

Categories     Appetizers and Snacks     Spicy

Time 30m

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 6

½ cup soy sauce
½ cup Italian-style salad dressing
3 pounds chicken wings, cut apart at joints, wing tips discarded
¼ cup butter
1 teaspoon soy sauce
¼ cup hot pepper sauce (such as Frank's RedHot®), or to taste

Steps:

  • Combine 1/2 cup soy sauce, Italian dressing, and chicken wings in a large, zip-top bag. Close bag and refrigerate 4 hours to overnight.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat. In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in the 1 teaspoon soy sauce and the hot pepper sauce. Turn off heat and reserve.
  • Remove the chicken wings from the marinade and pat dry. Cook the wings on the preheated grill, turning occasionally, until the chicken is well browned and no longer pink, 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Place grilled wings in a large bowl. Pour butter sauce over wings; toss to mix well.

BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS

Buffalo Chicken Wings image

Categories     Chicken     Cocktail Party     Super Bowl     Blue Cheese     Summer     Tailgating     Poker/Game Night     Grill     Deep-Fry     Grill/Barbecue     Gourmet

Yield Makes 6 hors d'oeuvre servings or 4 main-course servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

For blue-cheese dressing
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup plain yogurt
2 ounces crumbled blue cheese (about 1/2 cup)
4 celery ribs
3 pounds chicken wings (12 to 14)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (if grilling) or 6 cups vegetable oil (if deep-frying)
1/4 cup unsalted butter
3 to 4 tablespoons hot sauce such as Frank's or Goya
1 1/2 tablespoons cider vinegar

Steps:

  • Make dressing:
  • In a bowl whisk together mayonnaise and yogurt and stir in blue cheese (dressing will not be smooth). Dressing may be made 8 hours ahead and chilled, covered Cut celery into thin sticks. Soak celery in a bowl of ice and cold water at least 30 minutes and up to 1 hour.
  • Cut off chicken wing tips, reserving for another use, and halve chicken wings at joint.
  • To grill wings:
  • Preheat grill.
  • Pat wings dry. In a bowl rub 2 tablespoons oil onto wings and season with salt. Grill wings on an oiled rack set 5 to 6 inches over glowing coals until cooked through and golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes on each side.
  • To deep-fry wings:
  • In a large (5- to 6-quart) deep heavy kettle heat 6 cups oil until a deep-fat thermometer registers 380° F. Just before oil reaches 380°F, pat dry 6 or 7 wings. Carefully lower wings into oil and fry, stirring occasionally, until cooked through, golden, and crisp, 5 to 8 minutes. With a slotted spoon transfer wings to paper towels to drain. Pat dry and fry remaining wings in same manner, returning oil to 380°F between batches.
  • In a large skillet melt butter over moderately low heat and stir in hot sauce, vinegar, and salt to taste. Add grilled or fried wings and toss to coat.
  • Serve chicken wings warm or at room temperature with dressing and celery sticks.

GRILLED BUFFALO WINGS

Categories     appetizer

Time 35m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3 pounds whole chicken wings
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup hot sauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon honey

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper and garlic powder. In a large bowl, toss the wings with the salt mixture to evenly coat.
  • Preheat a gas grill to medium heat (about 350 degrees F).
  • Place the wings on the grill, crowding them together so that they are all touching (this goes against the conventional wisdom of giving meat room so it doesn't steam; you want them to steam so that they stay moist). Grill, flipping the wings every 5 minutes, for a total of 20 minutes of cooking.
  • In the meantime, heat the butter, hot sauce, vinegar and honey in a saucepan over low heat and whisk to combine.
  • In a clean large bowl, toss the wings with the sauce. Turn the heat up on the grill to medium high. Use tongs to remove the wings from the sauce and put them back on the grill until the skins crisp, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Put the wings back in the bowl with the sauce, toss and serve.
