FETA BOUYIOURDI RECIPE (SPICY GREEK BAKED FETA WITH TOMATOES)
Less is more! Made with only four ingredients, this Greek baked feta recipe (feta bouyiourdi) is a very simple and delicious appetizer that will amaze you!

- To prepare this delicious Greek baked feta recipe, start by preparing the vegetables. Slice the onion and pepper into rings or half rings and chop the tomato into small cubes. (Use the ripest tomato you can find.)
- Place the block of feta on some aluminum foil and top with the tomato, onion and pepper. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with oregano. Wrap the feta cheese with the aluminum foil and place on a baking tray. (Make sure that the aluminium foil isn't torn, to keep the juices inside).
- Bake in preheated oven at 180C until the vegetables have softened, for about 20 minutes.
- Serve the baked feta as it is (with the aluminium foil), with some crusted bread aside. Enjoy!

Zesty and satisfying bougiourdi - feta broiled with hot peppers, tomato, and oil - makes a fast but impressive meze, snack, or light meal.

- Preheat your broiler to 220° C / 425° F
- Slice the long pepper into rounds
- Slice the tomatoes
- Put the feta in an oven-proof dish, surround with the tomatoes, and top with the sliced pepper
- Crumble the dried chilies over the top
- Pour the olive oil over the feta
- Broil on the top rack of the oven for about 10 minutes, until the peppers start to color along the edges.
- Remove from the oven and crumble the oregano over the top. Add a small splash of ouzo if you like.
HEALTHIER BAKED YOGURT BOUYIOURDI
There's no feta cheese in this version, so it's far lower in calories and fat because yoghurt replaces the feta.

Steps:
- Spoon a dollop of Greek yoghurt into the bottom of each dish.
- Top with a layer of the onion, tomato, roasted peppers, garlic and chilli flakes.
- Sprinkle with a little salt and a few more chilli flakes along with a little oregano.
- Repeat this then drizzle with a little oil.
- Top with a little more yogurt and pop the dishes into the oven and cook for about 20 minutes.
- When the time is up the yoghurt should have taken on a firm but springy texture and look quite like feta.
- Once cooked, serve immediately with slices of crusty bread for dipping.

- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- In a baking tin, arrange sliced onions, tomatoes, bell peppers.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper.
- Mix well.
- Place the feta cheese slices on top and again sprinkle pepper and salt.
- Cover it with foil and bake for 35-45 minutes.
- Serve along with bread and salad.

- Cut 1 tomato through the middle, then cut two slices from the centre and set aside. Scoop the seeds from the rest of the tomato, then grate the flesh, discarding the skin. Deseed and grate the rest of the tomatoes in the same way, then mix the grated flesh with the garlic. Season and spoon into a 16cm baking dish.
- Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Nestle the feta block in the garlicky tomatoes, then top with the sliced tomatoes, the chilli, oregano, olive oil and a pinch of sea salt. Cover the dish and bake for 15 mins, then uncover and bake for a further 15 mins. Serve warm with the pitta breads on the side for dunking.

- Next we cut the onion Julien
- And finely chop the dried chili
- Now, put the tomatoes on the bottom of a small baking dish
- Add the onion over them, some dried oregano and drizzle some olive oil
- Next add the block of feta cheese, sprinkle some dried oregano, olive oil, chili flakes and last add the green peppers around and over the feta
- Add the dish in a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (or 200 degrees Celsius) for 15 - 20 minutes or until the feta gets golden brown
