CITRUS MOSCATO SANGRIA

Refreshing citrus moscato sangria recipe made with a variety of citrus fruits, honey, orange liqueur and moscato wine.

Ingredients

1 grapefruit (peeled and cut into supreme style segments)
2 oranges (peeled and cut into supreme style segments)
1 blood orange (cut into slices)
2 clementine mandarins (cut into slices)
10 kumquats cut into slices
2 tablespoons honey
½ cup orange liqueur like Grand Marnier
2 cups chilled sparkling water
Juice of 1 lemon
1 750 ml bottle chilled moscato wine - can also use Spanish moscatel wine
Ice

Steps:

Put the citrus fruit slices and segments in a pitcher. Add the honey and orange liqueur, let macerate for at least 30 minutes.
Add the chilled sparkling water, moscato wine, lemon juice and ice. Mix well. The citrus moscato sangria can be served immediately or kept refrigerated for a couple of hours before serving.
When serving the sangria use a spoon or fork to put some of the citrus pieces into each glass.

We made this refreshing dessert with Moscato d'Asti, a sweet sparkling Italian wine, which nicely offsets the slightly bitter grapefruit. If you prefer, you may use a drier sparkling wine or Champagne for a slightly different but equally flavorful result.

1 ruby red grapefruit, chilled
4 sugar cubes
One 750-ml bottle Moscato d'Asti

Steps:

Cut top end off grapefruit, and remove peel and pith with a sharp paring knife. Carefully carve out segments from between membranes. Place several grapefruit segments and 1 sugar cube in each serving glass, and fill with Moscato. Serve immediately.
