Warm and creamy Southern chocolate sauce perfect for topping biscuits. Imagine, chocolate for breakfast without guilt!

1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups whole milk
3 tablespoons salted butter

Steps:

  • Combine sugar [1cup], cocoa powder [1/4 cup], and flour [1/4 cup] and stir until no lumps remain.
  • Combine the milk [2 cups] with the cocoa mixture in a saucepan or deep skillet and set over medium-high heat.
  • Whisk and stir until mixture starts to barely bubble and thicken.
  • Reduce heat and continue to cook and stir until desired consistency is reached.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the butter [3 tablespoons].
  • Serve immediately.

WHEN I WAS A KID WE ALWAYS LOVED GOING TO MY GRANDMOTHER'S HOUSE IN ARKANSAS NOT JUST BECAUSE SHE WAS THE BEST GRANDMA BUT SHE MADE US KIDS CHOCOLATE GRAVY!
4 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp flour
3-4 Tbsp cocoa powder
3 Tbsp sugar
1 1/2 c whole milk

Steps:

  • 1. Heat butter till melted in skillet. Mix together in a bowl sugar, flour, and cocoa.
  • 2. Stir mixture into butter and cook for about a minute. Slowly add milk as you would any other gravy. Stir constantly until thickened.
  • 3. Serve over biscuits for breakfast. The grandkids loved this treat,

1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla

Steps:

  • Whisk the cocoa, flour, and sugar together in a bowl until there are no lumps. Pour the milk into the mixture and whisk until well incorporated. Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until its consistency is similar to gravy, 7 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir the butter and vanilla into the mixture until the butter is melted. Serve immediately.

1 heaping cup of granulated sugar
1 heaping cup flour
1 cup of water

Steps:

  • Mix well, bring to a boil, turn to medium heat. Stir gently, to keep from sticking, until thickened. Pour over hot homemade biscuits with a dab of butter.
