1 lb cocktail franks, some you may want to cut in half
1/2 cup rye whiskey (you can use Jack Daniels but not as good for this recipe)
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce (Denzel, Pepri-Peri, Tabasco, mare depending on your taste)

Steps:

  • Mix together the ketchup, brown sugar& hot sauce, heat to simmer add rye& weiners simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Serve on toothpicks.
  • These can be frozen.

1 lb beef smokies
3/4 cup chili sauce or 3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon grated onion
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 ounces Bourbon or 3 ounces whiskey

Steps:

  • Mix chili sauce/ketchup, brown sugar, onion, lemon juice and whiskey in saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Add weiners and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • These can also be put in a crock pot to simmer.

For as long as I can remember, my Grandpa Dennis made this recipe for any get together, special occasion or potluck. Now, we make it to take to potlucks and there is NEVER any left. It's quick and easy, simmer a few hours and it's ready to go. Love this!!!!!

1 cup ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
2 lbs hot dogs, cut in 1-inch pieces

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients and simmer for 1-2 hours.
  • Sauce will thicken with cooking.
  • Serve warm in crockpot with toothpicks!

3 lb (3-4 pkgs) lit'l smokies
1 c brown sugar
1 c whiskey or bourbon
1 bottle Heinz chili sauce
3 T minced onions
2 T fresh lemon juice
1/2 c BBQ sauce
2-3 T red hot sauce

Steps:

  • Cook smokies in crockpot on high until hot. Drain the smokies & return to pot. Add all other ingredients to pan & cook on stove at high until boiling. Reduce heat to simmer & reduce sauce to thicken. Add sauce into crockpot with smokies & cook on low until heated through.

Steps:

  • 1. Mix brown sugar, whiskey, and ketchup in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to low and simmer 30 minutes. Add hot dogs and simmer another 30 minutes or until reduced enough to just glaze the hot dogs.
  • 2. Serve warm with toothpicks

1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

If my mom ever served this to guests, there was sure to be a recipe request following the meal. I do believe this is what my Mom is famous for. Everyone loves the cheesy carrots! Thanks Mom!

2 tablespoons margarine or 2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated
salt
pepper
4 cups carrots, sliced
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 -2 cup corn flakes

Steps:

  • You can make the cheese sauce in either the microwave or on the stovetop.
  • Melt margarine.
  • Add flour and mix.
  • Add milk.
  • Cook until thickened.
  • Add cheese (feel free to add more to make a cheesier sauce). Stir.
  • Cook a bit longer until cheese is melted.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Slice carrots and chop onions and cook almost completely (not mushy and not too soft).
  • Mix with cheese sauce.
  • Place carrot mixture in a shallow dish and top with crumbled cornflakes or cornflake crumbs.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour.
